Since last Saturday, my Mac Mini has become extremely slow. He is consumption determined 30 minutes before he started up. MAY, if he is ready then it TAKES forever to open, I mis a program. even off the screen saver out he need 10 min. 

I still have a windows laptop. The two are on the same network. I moved a file from the Internet on the laptop down and on an external hard FLAP (which is connected to the Mac). 
After that was a virus on the laptop and he did not even start. 

Can it be that the virus is also on the Mac? 
How do I get down there if only safari open an hour lasts? 
What else can this be?

Hello! I use a Mac, with a direct internet connection. Right now, I'm running Parallels in order to run Windows 7. I have it all running, but i can't seem to get my internet working on the windows part. When i used network repair it gave me this message: Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the DRIVER. I would really like the internet to start working!

Edit- It also is saying no Network connections are available, even though i have a router directly connected, and am able to access the internet on the mac part.Connor,

If you go into the parallels Virtual machine settings for windows 7 you can specify how you want the network connection to work.

The easiest way to get it working would be to set it up to share your mac's network connection with the parallels VM.

Let me know if you need me to give a BETTER step by step process to doing this.I tried running Parallels on my MacBook Pro and I felt that it slowed down my machine. Has anyone else experienced this at all? I ended up getting a PC to run the few software programs that I do have and kept it separate.I am having problems ejecting discs from my mac while Parallels is running. The photo teacher at school is looking to get a storage solution that all of her classes can access while in school. Currently there are 6 IMACS and 10 mac laptops, she is planning on getting more of both over the next couple of years. Right now there is a networked external hard drive, but it sometimes has problems when all of the computers are trying to access the photos at the same time.

Would a mac mini set up as a server be a better option?
Since the school system uses a proxy server for internet access, would it be possible for the teacher to access the mini from outside of the school?
Would there be a problem with the students accessing their work at the same time? What if the number of machines doubles?

To use the Mac Mini as a web server you’ll need a few things. First, you’ll need to be ABLE to reach the Mini from outside your network. You can accomplished this by getting a free account at DynDNS. You can also pick from a few free domains, most of them pretty terrible. You’ll then need to download and install their free IP updater client. This small app runs in the background and updates your dynamic IP to DynDNS. This WAY, when you type in your chosen domain name, your DynDNS account will always know to send the request to the correct IP and get the Mac Mini.Found a solution that seems to work better than using a mini. With more research we found that you can only have 10 connections to a shared drive at one time. With 16 computers for the kids and the teacher the first 10 were fine and the last 7 were out of luck. The teacher bought Mac server and I installed it on the IMAC with the external drive. Now all of the computer can access the drive at once and the random printing problems seem to have been resolved too.

Talk about annoying, only 10 at a time!

CJI presently don't use a Apple LAPTOP,  so I can't give you the direct answer.
Unicode can be used on the Apple OS. But the results may not be what you expect. Have you read this article?

Just bought a seagate 2tb hard DRIVE desktop expansion. It's not designed for mac, which perhaps is the problem.

Which leads me to my problem.

I'm transferring movies onto the external to clear up SPACE on my mac. I transfer the file from the mac to the external it's fine.

HOWEVER: When I then GO to delete the file I transfered from my mac, it also deletes it on my hard drive.

I don't know what do, and couldn't find ANYTHING on google.

Any help is much appreciated.

I have a google CALENDER ACCOUNT, I use EVERYDAY. I have it synced to my phone (android) just fine, but my boss gave us iPads for Christmas.

iOS is 5.1, worried about upgrading to 6 as my coworkers all hate it.

So I tried to sync my Google calender to the calender to my iPad, and it says it successfully synced but nothing appears on the calender :/ If I add a new event to the calender from the iPad it DOES update on my computer/phone, but none of the events made on my phone/computer calender appear on my iPad calender.

I tried sending the calender to another google account and syncing that new google account to the iPad's calender, it says it was successful again but still nothing appears on the calender.

I probably have some sort of SETTING messed up somewhere, but I can not get it to work. Please help! Thank you so much!

I was lucky enought to find myself with an older piece of computer earlier this week. It's a late model emac G4. The system is currently running OSx panther 10.3 but has some issues with Internet surfing and doing simple tasks such as loging onto iTunes and running YouTube Facebook etc. after looking around YouTube and the Internet and using am tracker on my newer Mac I FIGURED out I was able to load OSx leopard on there 10.5. However before I do that I have a few questions. I have purchased a leopard disk a few years BACK and have dug it out.. My question is weather or not the OSx leopard disk is compiled for both power pc Macs and intel or are there specific disks I need to find that only run the power P version of leopard and vice versa? Because I tried to run the disk and the emac KEPT ejecting it. I read online that the emac can't support double layer DVDs because Its an older drive. So is it possible to boot the disk off an external DVD drive via USB?  Let me know... Thanks

Can you upgrade VERSION os 10.5.8 to os10.8.2? My iMac os10.5.8 will not recognize a EXTERNAL hard DRIVE in disk utilities to FORMAT it to Mac.

That was then TOPIC in a Forbes Magazine article. More of a speculation. The gist of the short article that was published earlier this month is to the EFFECT of saying that the new guy at Apple is an expert in just-in-time production. This could mean that Apple will release major improvements or new items every six months.

Do you think that is TRUE? If so, what IMPACT will that have on your personal Apple buying plans?

I have an I-Phone 4.  After buying one for myself and one for my wife NEARLY 2 years AGO, I bought 2 Motorola blue tooth devices - one for each of our 2 cars.  They are the kind that you CLIP onto the SUN visors.  The problem is that the VOICE quality is not good.  Important phone calls for business purposes and the other party often has trouble making out what I say.  Extremely frustrating. 

I would like to get another blue tooth device or 2 that have much better quality performance and hopefully won't cost a fortune.  I would prefer the same "sun-visor" type but I'm willing to go with one that clips on my ear if necessary. 

Are some devices better suited for the I-Phone?  Ay suggestions as to what I should get?  The last thing I want is to spend another $75+ for a device with lousy performance.  It would be nice if I could also use it with my PC.

I found I could delete my music from iPhone, but only by doing this:
 Settings > General > Usage > Music
 Then swipe Delete.

 I found this finally deleted all my music from my iPhone, then I started again by syncing my music from iTunes.

Thanks again.Ok to put my suggestion and attempts at ASSISTANCE in proper perspective.I do not now nor have i ever OWNED the device that we are discussing. The closest i have ever come to it is the 1st generation I-pod shuffle. Which can be synced to a computer and uses the I-tunes library. Now you obviously have access to a computer where you are and do not have hands on access to the one in the U.K. So why not sync the device to the computer where you are and when and if the U.K. computer joins you or you it then you can copy the I-tunes library to a portable medium such as a flash drive or a cd disc and transfer it to your laptop and incorporate the songs to your I-tunes library on the laptop once you have synced the I-phone to the U.K. laptop?If on the other hand the 2 of you shall never be co-located why would you even want to do this?If as is common you shall be adding and deleting from you I-phone and for whatever reason you do not want to lose any of the songs even the ones you intend to delete from the I-tunes library either save them in another FOLDER or on a remveable device.Does that cover your desires or have i missed something? truenorth  Quote from: luckynumber37 on August 19, 2012, 11:29:37 PM

This is an easy one. Go into SETTINGS on the iPod`s home screen, General>Software Update, and Update from there. Note that it will update to 6.1.1, not 6.0. 6.1.1 is better though, as there is bug fixes & stuff.

Yes, I do have an iPhone. I have four PCs, but none fit in my suit pocket. Or in my Levi's EITHER. The iPhone goes with me. Even my Android is too big.

I want a fare application that lets me plan a week or month AHEAD and keep nin my iPhone. I saw this review of some, but I still don't know what I want.

This will allow you to batch copy all your phone numbers to the iPhone without the need for a PC or Mac.

The iPhone has no ability to transfer contacts to a SIM card. It can only import data from a SIM and even that is limited to the name and primary phone number entries.
You probably wouldn't like the results anyway since SIM cards don't hold a lot of data and some fields don't transfer.

I tried to sync it many times no use. All I learnt is u can copy photos from computer to iPhone not vice versa. Is that right?

Cheerswhen you plug it in, it should come up as a CAMERA on the pc aswel as itunes, and you can go into my computer, and open the iphone> DCIM folder and copy them over.
Well I REMEMBER seeing a youtube video saying that it’s because itunes blocked some data when you sync your apple products, so you may try to change some SETTINGS to make them unhidden. Unfortunately I don’t have that video right now. but you can google your question “how to transfer photos from iphone to pc” to find that video. Plug in your phone, and start Windows Photo Gallery. Go to the File menu and choose import. Choose your iPhone and it will do the rest. They come up in your Pictures directory by default. Just to be clear, iTunes does not do this on Windows.

Is there any Apps he can download that will let him RECORD an HD video and instantly upload it? (but not to YouTube)

EITHER in one of these forms:

1.  Like MailVU.  MailVU is a service and app that allows you to record camera video and then you can instantly send it as video mail (email linking to the video), or generate video LINK to share with someone else to view.  (except it is not HD video)

2.  Like Keek.  Keek is a social networking platform where users can record 36 second videos and they'll instantly get uploaded to their Keek page like a blog.  (except it is again not HD video)have you tried Vimeo? I'm not sure they have a first-party iOS app but it's HD

A review on ZD net says the Apple iPod with a keyword is a practical desktop replacement.  I am willing to believe it, but I need proof.

I need to know right away!  I can only see it as a viable desktop replacement for people that consume, rather than create. the ipod, ipad, android phones, etc. are data consumers- you read books, you read websites, etc. But the task of creation using these devices is unweildy, slow, and essentially discourages it; first you have smart-dumb features like "autocorrect" which can TUNA your riding into nun cents, but you also have the fact that the screens are so small and difficult to use in the same MANNER as a keyboard & mouse.

Thing is this problem isn't really solved by just having an attachable keyboard because the system is designed as a device for consuming content anyway.

My point is, I guess for most people- who don't really create content, but instead use it- watch youtube, maybe write short E-mails, etc. It might work, and in fact most people have practically replaced their traditional desktop activities with portable devices. Has anyone had any experience with this software? My ISSUE is the fact that after 4 years of having my macbook its slowed down a LOT! i have reset the PRAM and did all the FANCY tricks under the sun.. Its loads fast in the white apple loading screen but as soon as it hits the blue screen and begins to show its desktop its about 30-45 seconds there... really slow. I have tried to use CleanMyMac and it has helped a bit by clearing some SPACE up but still my system is slow, disk utility found some software issues... Should i try this PIECE of software or just re-install everything?  I have been using maccleaner for several years and never had any problem.

He guys, I got a Mac OS X, and I have recently downloaded Smc-fan control. I use it to control my fan speed, and I am not sure what is the SAFE speed limit for the fan speed. The MAXIMUM is 4300rpm, and I think it might be too fast? Or is it not a GOOD idea to mess with fan speeds on Mac at all? You won't be able to increase the fan speed PAST a given maximum, so don't worry about speeding it up too much.Ok thanks...but when I sped it up too 4000 , the fan sound got quite loud. I'm not worried about the noise, but will it shorten my hardware or fan life?
Thanks. It will get louder, simply because it's spinning faster - perfectly normal and expected behaviour.
If it sounded DIFFERENT to normal - making a clicking or grinding sound - it would be a different matter.  Regardless, I can't see that a software program could ever speed up a fan beyond its designed maximum, it should never be possible.
Fan life shouldn't be measurably shortened by running at max speed all the time, your hardware should actually last longer (in theory, and not measurably longer) as it should run cooler.Okay thanks. He ;Dlped me a lot.No problem, glad we could help

HELP!  My current computer is an acer 8.9 inch netbook bought four years ago and I use an ethernet connection to connect to the internet.   Can I use the ethernet to connect to internet using an Ipad and if not, what kind of equipment do I need to do so and where WOULD I get it?   I CURRENTLY use a router/modem from Verizon.  I never had an Ipad and have no IDEA how to connect. Does anyone have idea about if I can clone an external hard drive (Mac based) into another external hard drive (new) by installing some software (like easeus etc.) on a Windows based laptop.Never done it. But a sector by sector clone might do the job.

I have an iMac and connect to the internet using a USB modem and sim cards from local suppliers. I live in Bali, Indonesia.
I am a photographer. On my web SITE I have a facility for clients to download high-resolution image files for print.
Just lately I have noticed that when I download these images myself, from some clients galleries, they arrive on my computer reduced in size. A file of say 3MB will be reduced to 400K. This does not happen when other people download. It does not happen if I change my sim CARD to another supplier. It only happens on the most recent uploaded galleries. I have CONTACTED my software supplier, my Internet SERVICE provider and my domain host, with no result, and in any event, as I said, it seems only to happen to me using my computer.
Absolutely baffled.
Any ideas anyone?

My ipad mini has two e-mail addresses:gmail.com and Charter.net.  The gmail.com works okay. The Charter.net, HOWEVER, can RECEIVE e-mails but would not hold them.  Once I click on a e-mail to read it, the e-mail would disappear after a few moments.  The emails I moved to the sub FOLDERS after reading would disappear also.  Because of this, my charter mail boxes show all empty when I open my Charter mails the nest time.

I brought this problem to a Apple store and was told that Charter e-mail services are known to be not friendly to Apple devices sometimes.  I ended up having to remove my charter account from ipad 2 and only use g-mail.

i am using an apple i mac (2009) 4GB  running it with att wireless....as i noted i am a novice at this....mainly USE it for EMAIL and looking up things..
I had been storing pics on it.....but lately when ever I go to them I get that spinning colored disk - i guess that means loading...but it never ends. i have to turn off

then today upon just looking email and opening up I keep getting that spinning disk again...and for typing in SOMETHING again the disk and it takes forever

I've been checking out the MacPro and really like the innovative design, it's a beast of a machine! Wondering if anyone else feels the same? Or whether you prefer to keep the computer you have already?Other than the weird looking design, which will as always inhibit upgrades and repairs, what's new or innovative about it?
Hint: nothing at all.
Apple are just doing their usual thing of taking something that's been out a while, packaging it up in some weird looking case, and putting a few tons of marketing on top.  I'm not suggesting for a second that it won't sell well, because it will, I'm just saying that unless you really, really want (or maybe need) a Mac, there are far better options, and there have been for some time - in terms of price, performance, and price/performance.I know, 80% of it is just marketing and building it up, as with any product really (although advertising it in movie theaters might be going too far). But if you appreciate the other Macs and compare the Mac Pro to them, I think it is destined for greatness. Not just because the size of it is half of the previous models, but because of the (promised) speed, thermal core, better display etc. etc.

I installed a Comcast/Arris cable modem yesterday and and using its WIRELESS capability to connect my Macbook PRO to the Internet. When I tried to access my HP printer today using its wifi capability (I had been doing this with no PROBLEMS for several MONTHS prior to yesterday) the doc goes into the printer queue but it never prints. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the printer several times, rebooted the Macbook, restarted the printer, etc. to no avail. Any ideas? Printer is SET as the default according to the Macbook but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Do I need to use wifi on the cable modem to also access the printer? HELP!

Sothis thread is not about keyboard layouts for your touch screen. Rather, real honest PHYSICAL keyboards that let you  type like on your desktop PC.

For an iPhone, it has to be Bluetooth. For some Androids it hags to be USB.
But can't you just use any USB keyboard. Yes. No.Maybe.

Can I remove the unwanted apps from the PURCHASED LIST on my iPad. I have found plenty of replies to this question but none work. The methods mentioned in replies remove the avitar from the ordinary page, but not from the Purchased Page. Pete.Unfortunately you cannot.

Even though you have deleted these apps on your device, they will still appear with the 'iCloud download' BUTTON on your Purchased page.

Apple made it that way for easy retrieval of those apps you may have accidentally deleted or those apps you just want to re-download.

It's actually CONVENIENT to have all of them on one page.

I am using word 2011, in a mac to type a document for making a t shirts.  I figured out how to FLIP the document up side down.  But when I PRINT it, it does not print up side down? What am I doing wrong?
To flip the document I insert word art and flip it. You are suing Mac OS 10 right?
What format is the file? Does the file have text and and graphics  or only graphics?
Normally, Word is used fro printing documents.

Have you considered using any free graphics printing programs for Apple?

Yeah Mac os 10, I was able to flip it, just does not print. Its just a text document, that is my website name.Yeah, you can not flip text for printing. Only for viewing.  But an image can be  rotated any POSITION and printed.

Try this. Set you display to the highest resolution, adjust the text to fix and fill the screen as you want. TAKE a screen shot, save the image. Later print the image as you like.
I think you already know low to do a screen shot in OS X.

You can't do this in Microsoft Word 2011, but there is a work around.

Return your document to normal so nothing is upside down.

- Go to File > Print
- At the bottom of the Print window, click the PDF button, and save your document as a PDF.
- Once you have saved a copy, open the new PDF file inside Preview.
- Now, from inside Preview, go to File > Print
- If you see a Show Details button, click it to show all available options.
- Choose Layout from the print options pop-up menu (the pop-up menu within a separator bar, which should currently have 'Preview'  selected).
- Select the “Reverse page orientation” checkbox.

Now, when you print, the document will print upside down.

I have a quite odd problem.
Just got My hands on a Mac pro from a type of garage SALE. The comouter boots up fine and all, the problem is to get INTE the computer as the Old user did not give me the login details, so IM basically stuck at the Mac user login SCREEN. Is there anyway i can get around this? My end goal is to wipe the hdd and use it as a new computer. Im not too familiar with mac.

I can't add any files from my computer to iTunes library. I've FOLLOWED all the instructions and tried many times.  It says you can (option 1) click on files at the top then click add a file or folder to your library.  The WINDOW then opens and you click on the file you want (and I've tried many different ones)... But nothing happens. I don't SEE it or a search doesn't find it.  (Option 2) drag and drop from the file location on your computer.  Nothing happens.  I've also followed the path from my C: DRIVE to the iTunes music files and it's not there.  Any ideas?Hi there,
