hi everyone, i broke my i phone screen the other day, it still TURNS on but it wont respond to touch. (also my LOCK BUTTON doesn't work either) i was wondering if there is anyway to get the photos and videos off of it, i cant use iTunes because you have to unlock your keypad to do that.

any help and suggestions would be muchly appreciated does anyone know a FREE third PARTY software that can do this for me?

I am trying to convert some files from iTunes to MP3 format. iTunes has a conversion system built in, but after I have converted it seems to hide the MP3 file somewhere in my computer where I cannot locate it.
I want to store them in a separate folder on my desktop.
Any ideas?
BorderlordRight click ONE of the songs and go to Get INFO.  That'll show you where the song is.  It's probably in your iTunes Media\Music directory somewhere.

I don't know if you can tell it where to store the newly created mp3.  You may have to manually move the new mp3s to a folder of your choice.Hi Jan

Thanks for that. Think I have found a way round myself.
First problem is this.
iTunes recommend setting up a playlist for the songs you wish to convert. However, if you do this, when the conversion is done it puts the converted file BACK in the main library, not in the playlist, so you can't see it.
After having tried to convert a number of times, I went back to the main library to find several versions there.
Anyway, still doesn't help in moving the files.
So from there I use the main computer search function to locate the file I want. I find you only need the first word of the title to locate all the files. From there, if you hit 'see more results' it will list all the files with their respective formats next to them.
From there its 'drag and drop' to the specific folder.
Sounds complicated, but simple once you get into the rhythm.
I went through my iTunes library and found 129 songs to convert.
Once I had figured it out, spent a happy evening putting them all on flash drive.
No doubt there are more sophisticated ways, but this worked for me.

Something to think about, you can create a playlist of songs. Then right click the play list to burn it to a CD. You can burn to an audio CD or to mp3 files on the CD.Hi Jan

That's the EASY way, unfortunately my cd drive is read only, so I can't burn cd's. My sisters computer can, hence putting the files on flash drive. I give it to her, and get cd's back.

With mynew mini ipad (retina) I actually got it up and running but came unstuck when I opened up a cloud mail account.   I later tried to CHANGE it to a hotmail address and got into a mess, so reset the whole &*^E$*( thing.

Now I have got i , entered my country, and now it can't FIND the wifi- it appears to be pad- locked - and that's as far as I've gone.

Can anyone help please?It suggests I log into itunes, but wi-fi is still not there, and with the other alternative, to click on itunes, it too appears locked.    I can't do anything.All that has gone by the BOARD J.A.  I reset the ipad and now in a worse mess.
I have got as far as ENTERING English and the country and now I can't get past my wi-fi.   I had no trouble before, but it LOOKS like the wifi is locked???

I have an iPad mini and was able to download library BOOKS on Overdrive until they changed their system and now I cannot get it to WORK. I uninstalled their APP and reinstalled it with all  new authorization from ADOBE which they told me to do. Still does not work. I allowed cookies on Safari. I know it is not all me because I had DOWNLOADED this same BOOK before with no problem.

I would like to have OSX on an iPad with digitizer for things like digital graphics with adobe, where we have to draw..... that would be really nice with a 13" screen and retina display as WELL.... thoughts?Just rumors.

This is a sporadic issue, and I can't for the life of me crack it.

I have an AT&T data plan, with "Personal Hotspot" activated.

When I turn it on (ooooh!) to connect via WiFi, one of four things happens:

- Everything works flawlessly
- I see the iPad, with an all-green signal STRENGTH indicator, in my little wireless Network CONNECTION, and when I try to connect, it THINKS for a moment and then gives me "Windows is unable to connect to iPad." and the Troubleshoot options thing brings me nowhere
- Exact same as above, although the wireless strength indicator is clear
- "No connections are available"

Sometimes I get the "No Connections Available", and a minute or so later, it connects on its own.

I can't figure out a pattern, or any rhyme or reason, as to when I get things to work fine vs. the other three bad conditions.

I have rebooted. I have flushed the DNS cache and rebooted. I've flicked my antenna SWITCH (on PC) on and off a whole bunch.
I've restarted my iPad. I've reset Network connections. I've followed Apple's advice screen (which is, turn the wireless off, turn the hotspot off, turn the wireless on, turn the hotspot on). I've turned CELLULAR data on and off. I've cursed. I've thrown stuff. I almost snapped my phone in half (and it's just sitting there, innocent).

I can connect using the iPad as a hotspot using the USB cable.

What else can I try/do??

iTunes created an update for iTunes which I installed the other day. I attempted to open it today to add a file to my library but it wouldn't open, a window opens saying "The procedure entry point *blabla* could not be located in the dynamic library" and then another pops up saying "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes."

I uninstalled iTunes and downloaded again, the same messages appear. I have tried to restore to previous versions but again the messages come up.

I will show print screens ALSO, I would appreciate anyones help! thank you

Simply uninstalling from "programs and features" on control panel doesn't work. It still leaves iTunes files on "Program Files" on the Local Disk, so I deleted all iTunes folders on my Local Disk, then reinstalled - and it worked

Since UPDATING software on my Tablet 2 with iOS 8.0.2, I have been unable to open the App. "Europe; offline MAPS with direct U".  I have downloaded the app. a couple of times, but to no avail. When I TRY to open the app, which shows in iTunes store as downloaded, it just opens full screen for about TWO seconds then reverts back to the "Home" page. (The same programme opens ok on my iPhone which is not using iOS 8.0.2: I have seen other problems on various sites, but not this one. All other APPS seem to be OK. mey be you app just nor compatible with ios 81. Check its compatibility
2. Make sure it is the Right date
3. Shut down your device
4. Call for help at the support site for apple at http://www.apple.com/support/
5. If that doesn't work, reset your device (i advice not to with ios 8 as i do not know what will happen)

Some of the new ideas for MOBILE development claim ypu MAKE a progrfam that can work or either a Apple or anAndroid. They go on to claim you do not have to be an expert in JAVA. They say long study of programming is not needed. Instead, What you need is imagination.

hi, I am thinking about buying a macbook for my first Mac experience. (I have never had any Apple product)
. I have a couple of questions.

1. I don't like to turn off my computer even I go to bed, is it bad for a macbook to be ON for long period of time - a continuous few weeks or months.

2. I don't play games or do any graphics work, most of the time watching youtube, checking email or skype, is the most inexpensive one and low-end model already good enough?

3. Can I use my macbook as a PC (running windows 7) when sometimes I want to get back to windows environment, does it work perfectly and function fully or does it just act as an emulation or not something suitable for windows environment?

4. Can I connect my portable or desktop external hard drive for PC to a macbook? Or should I buy a portable hard drive specially designed for macbook in Apple stores?First of all, you can run Windows  7 on a Mac book. With some limitations.

Hey,guys! I am confused about transfering iPhone to computer.
What I need help with is transferring my iPhone backup (and whatever else is needed) over to the new computer.
I get how to transfer my music: consolidate library then move the iTunes library over to the new computer and replace the iTunes library.
But what do I need to do for the iPhone? I know there is a backup for it somewhere that I need to move but don't know where it is. If you nice guys can give me a free recommandation program to do that?

If you're not jailbroken, you don't really need your last backup. Just plug in to itunes on the new computer as soon as you get it and sync. New backup created.

If you copy your directory structure exactly from the old pc to the new pc (Music/iTunes and Documents/iTunes) you'll get your backups.

Nobody mentioned that one could use the Apple Cloud service.

I am trying to fix my husbands computer - mac osx 10.7.5  We got attacked by a VIRUS that affected my pc, my ipad, my samsung galaxy s3 phone and his mac.  It kept asking us to update flash player - and would not let us get onto gmail at all.  it is on a loop.  I have fixed my pc (after much effort) and have reset the router.  I have fixed my ipad.  But his mac is defeating me.  Any suggestions?  Sophos does not FIND it when I scan with that, and I tried a scan with ClamXav which did find a trojan and quaratined that...but it has made no difference.  I have cleared cache and browser history.   I can't remember everything ELSE I have tried.  Suggestions please.

has ANYBODY used the Landing ZONE Docks? how are they? would LIKE to GET one for my Mac

Need a power ADAPTER for the MacBook Air 2010 with the "T" style connecter on the end.... the factory supplied charger with the "L" connecter if turned away from blocking ports doesn't charge the laptop and if I TURN it to block the USB and Headphone jack it charge perfect.... does it on EVERY SINGLE CHARGER I try so it can't be the adapter but the Laptop being picky on which way the charger is turned

I know higher watt chargers will work and can be suggested (confirmed to work by Apple).....I'd check to see if there is a dirty connection. Clean with RUBBING alcohol and q-tip if there is any gunk on contacts. If the connection in the MacBook is damaged then it should PROBABLY be serviced if EVEN worth investing money into a 5 year old MacBook.

need HELP trying to get both my printer and monitor working on my new 2015 MacBook Pro..... They both work great with my MacBook Air..... But the printer (HP printer... Forgot model number) won't CONNECT to my computer, just stops responding the second i plug it into the laptop and my secondary display (monitor) is stuck in 800x600 res with no avalible scaled resolutions and it only seems to be my dell (the ONE I want to use) and lenovo monitors running on display port to dvi.... I currently own an IPHONE 4S that was recently updated to ios8. The problem is that I despise the design of ios7 and higher and THEREFORE would like to downgrade the thing back to ios6. Is this possible?Well, there is no approved process to downgrade from a higher version to a lower ONE. Moreover, Apple doesn’t support downgrading; even iTunes won’t help completely in this case. Moreover, if you have already iCloud backup then restoring won’t help as I think so.It is possible to downgrade from a higher IOS version to a lower one.
But I do not think it is possible to downgrade from ios7/8 at the moment.
There is a 'grace period' after a new IOS version has been released, where you can still revert back to older versions.
But the 'grace period' is long gone, and Apple won't let you downgrade to IOS6 anymore.
Only possible way is if you have an iPhone 4.

'm having big trouble in installing Yosemite-Zone on my PC.

I have Acer ASPIRE E 15 start (specification: Processor- Intel Pentium quad core processor N3540 2.66GHz; Graphics-Intel HD Graphics; RAM-4GB; HDD:500gb)

I made bootable usb of 16 gb using TransMac using Yosemite-Zone.dmg. It restored correctly but it is not recognized at boot time. It is not recognized in UEFI boot mode, then i tried LEGACY mode , it recognized but when i press enter on the device it says "no bootable media found".

I tried in different usb PORTS , differrent usbs , UEFI and Legacy mode , Disabled Seure Boot, used transmac and powerISO , i also tried to boot usb in different PC too sill not working. i also tried with .dmg file and .iso files , still not working Yosemite-Zone.

Why do you ASK if someone has one?  The uses for such a machine are fairly limited so it will only EVER appeal to a very limited NUMBER of customers.

I am allways on the go and need something lightweight. I need it for handling EVERYDAY staff, sending and receiving emails, browsing the WEB, using office applications.
Could you please help me make a buying decision?  What sort of budget?

At the cheaper level you would probably end up looking at the MacBook Air but if you can AFFORD it I'd recommend looking at the MacBook Pro as it's a bit more powerful (not super important for your usage) but also has a far better screen which makes a huge difference to the experience when using the machine.  Pretty much any current Apple laptop is very thin and light so you won't have a PROBLEM in that respect although I'd stick to 13" or 11" ones from the portability perspective.

Also, if you are a student, make sure you take advantage of Apple's student discounts as these are pretty hefty.Why a Mac?  VIRTUALLY any laptop on the market will suffice for your requirements, even a Chromebook.He likes Mac. A lot of people do. If you want the Apple OS, then you buy a Mac.  for what you discribed, and if you don't use lots of usb devices, the new 2015 Retina MacBook may be a good choice for youBoth MacBook Pro and Air are good! However, If you will need it for web browsing, office works and photo editing then I would suggest a  MacBook Air ( Intel I7 running at 1.7 GHz). It would really depend if you want portability or power in selecting the best Mac.By now this post is six months old. And he may have found the answer nelsewhere.

My son is no loger with us.An online tutoring site takes me where I'm to install an application.In order to do that, however, I'm required to enter the Username and Password  that my son, as the Administrator had set up. Since I don't have that information I'd like to reset a new Username and Password. Is there any way that that could be done without having to take my (BIG) Mac Pro to a computer store?

Upon power on I see a temporary (~1 sec) very dim screen followed by black screen twice, then I see the box showing 'OS start-up' > 'user login screen' temporarily (still very dim) then back to black screen. The display image will brighten up enough temporarily to faintly see the display every time I press the 'CM' + 'OPT' keys. Is this a display issue, or GPU or what. This notebook has a Mini DVI graphics output but I don't have an adapter to convert mini DVI to hook up one of the external displays that I have which are VGA, HDMI or Composite. If this problem can possibly be solved via external display then I'll SPEND the $ for a Mini DVI adapter.
 I'm limited on $ I can spend and also on repair ability due to only 1 HAND + prosthetic hook so I really don't want to ATTEMPT a display replacement if I can avoid it. What to do next? Should I order a Mini DVI adapter?

If the backlight inverter failed then it would be an issue with the monitor, so you ought to be able to plug in another display with the adapter you mentioned.Yes I can see the user login screen faintly with a flashlight shining on the screen at the correct angle. I'll go ahead and order a DVI to VGA adapter. I'll post the results when I get an external monitor hooked up.

A few months a go, back in October Intel and Apple let it be known  rte next iPhone would have a new Intel CPU that would be better than anything Intel ever made.

The  details have YET to be fully disclosed, but Intel is making big frags about how great, wonderful  and  glorious it will be.

hey folk i have mac book pro (from 2009 i think) the HDD died completly so i have replaced it with a new 500gb hdd but i cannot get it to boot from used ive followed tutorials to say to make a boot usb on windows using trancmac. but alas it will not dectect the usb or DVD Please give the model # of  the Mac Book.

there is no way i can tell you the model it has no serial or model so Ive looked at the bottom its from 2009. its all white if that helps how can i find what model it is ?Maybe it is this one.

First thing  to do is check the battery. Likely the battery is dead and the system may  not run good without the battery.


 i get a white screen as Ive swapped the hdd to a BLANK one as the orginal one died  and i cant get it to boot of usb or dvd but the battery is fine i can run it with out he charger in, ? it has 4gb of ram an dual core and was on Yosemite ? if that also helpsOn a laptop  battery failure is a common cause of anything.
How did you test the battery?
Did you try direct substitution? 

I never  personally replaced a Hard Drive in a Mac Book

I have an Ipad 2 with current updates. Whenever I open a link in a web page the whole web page drops and goes to the home screen. sometimes when I open a web page it will drop and go to the home screen. sometimes i will be at a page in a web site and it will freeze for a bit then drop and go to the home screen. i havent contacted apple yet about it. just wanted to see if ANYBODY had an idea WHATS wrong.

I have a 2009 Mac book A1342  that has been having screen fading (WHITEOUT) issues. When I pull on the top if the screen it would clear up. I recently ordered and replaced the LCD and cable. The Macbook Pro is a used 13" late-2011 model and was PACKED with Yosemite.

Last summer, I installed rEFInd and added a Linux version for dual boot. All worked like a charm. This week, despite my worries, and for testing purposes (assuming that the downgrade ability was still available), I made the leap of faith and "FREE" upgraded to El Capitan. Then the dual boot VANISHED until I had rEFInd reinstalled. But the problem was that I was not satisfied at all with El Capitan and wanted to switch back to Yosemite (battery drain etc WITHOUT any practical advantage).

Then i tried making USB boot installers from torrents because the Yosemite installers have been removed from the Mac APP Store search. No matter what I did (downloading .dmg's for TransMac or burning ISO's on dual layer DVD's), the boot (not install) would always get stuck showing me a prohibitory sign and my only option through the Recovery option was for El Capitan. So I got paranoid and booted a live Linux version through rEFInd and formatted the whole drive, except from the EFI partition.

At the moment, the 480GB SSD is divided into the EFI (200MB) and the rest of the space has been formatted to exFAT through Linux. But still the same. I can't create a successfull installation media. Can someone suggest, how could I possibly install Yosemite on this laptop?

I'm using Microsoft Excel on my MacBook Pro, when I SAVE my excel to PDF, one right column gets cut off. Under print preview, all columns appear but the right most border only appears for the bottom half of the sheet. Have looked at various forums, played around with page setup but nothing SEEMS to be helping.. Not sure if anyone has SIMILAR experience/alternative solutions? Thanks!! For windows systems its easy with a check box for fit to page selection. Do you have an option with printing to a PDF software application to fit to page?Hi thanks for responding. Also, make the CUTOFF column blank. That is, move the data over one column.
