Explain VaR Margin in Detail? |
Answer» Value at Risk Margin: VaR is a single number, which encapsulates whole information about the risk in a portfolio. It measures potential loss from an unlikely adverse event in a normal market environment. Computation of VaR Margin: VaR Margin is a margin intended to cover the largest loss that can be encountered on 99% of the days (99% Value at Risk). For liquid securities, the margin covers one-day losses while for illiquid securities; it covers three-day losses so as to allow the clearing corporation to liquidate the position over three days. Some Definitions: Computation of the VaR margin requires the following definitions: (a) Security sigma: It means the volatility of the security computed as at the end of the previous trading day. The computation uses the exponentially weighted moving average method applied to daily returns in the same manner as in the derivatives market. (b) Security VaR: It means the highest of 7.5% or 3.5 security Sigmas. (c) Index sigma: It means the daily volatility of the market index (CNX Nifty or BSE Sensex) computed as at the end of the previous trading day. The computation uses the exponentially weighted moving average method applied to daily returns in the same manner as in the derivatives market. (d) Index VaR: It means the higher of 5% or 3 index Sigmas. The higher of the Sensex VaR or Nifty VaR would be used for this purpose. The VaR margin rate computed, as mentioned above, will be charged on the net outstanding position (buy value-sell) of the respective clients on the respective securities across all open settlements. There would be no netting off of positions across different settlements. Collection of VaR Margin: The VaR margin is collected on an upfront basis by adjusting against the total liquid assets of the member at the time of trade. The VaR margin is collected on the gross open position of the member. |

From the following information, calculate any two of the following ratios: (a) Debt to Equity Ratio, (b) working Capital Turnover Ratio, (c ) Return on Investment. Information: Equity Share Capital Rs. 50,000, General Reserve Rs. 1,00,000, Statement of Profit and Loss (Profit after Tax and Interest) Rs. 3,00,000, 12% Debentures Rs. 4,00,000, Creditors Rs. 3,00,000, Land and Building Rs. 14,00,000, Furniture Rs. 3,00,000, Debtors Rs. 2,90,000, Cash Rs. 1,10,000. Revenue from Operation (Net Sales) for the year ended 31st March, 2011 was Rs. 30,00,000 and Tax paid 50%. |
Answer» (a) Debt of Equity Ratio = 0.29 : 1, (b) Working Capital Turnover Ratio = 30 Times, (c ) ROI = 36%. Working Notes: For Debt to Equity Ratio 1. Debt = 12% Debentures = Rs. 4,00,000. 2. Equity = Equity Share Capital + General Reserve + Statement of Profit and Loss = Rs. 10,00,000 + 1,00,000 + Rs. 3,00,000 = Rs. 14,00,000. For Working Capital Turnover Ratio Working Capital = Rs. 4,00,000 (C.A) - Rs. 3,00,000 (C.L) = Rs. 1,00,000. For Return on Investment 1. Profit before Tax = `("Profit before Tax"xx 100)/("100-Tax Rate") = (Rs. 3,00,000 xx 100)/(100-50)` = Rs. 6,00,000. 2. Profit before Interest and Tax = Rs. 6,00,000 + Rs. 48,000 (Interest on Debentures) = Rs. 6,48,000. 3. Capital Employed = Equity Share Capital + General Reserve + Statement of Profit and Loss + 12% Debentures = Rs. 10,00,000 + Rs. 1,00,000 + Rs. 3,00,000 + Rs. 4,00,000 = Rs. 18,00,000. Or Capital Employed = Non-Current Assets + Working Capital = Rs. 17,00,000 + Rs. 1,00,000 = Rs. 18,00,000 Non-Current Assets = Land and Building + Furniture = Rs. 14,00,000 + 3,00,000 = Rs. 17,00,000. |

From the following information, calculate any two of the following ratios: (a) Debt to Equity Ratio, (b) working Capital Turnover Ratio, (c ) Return on Investment. Information: Equity Share Capital Rs. 5,50,000, General Reserve Rs. 50,000, Statement of Profit and Loss (Profit after Tax and Interest) Rs. 1,00,000, 9% Debentures Rs. 2,00,000, current Rs. 1,00,000, Land and Building Rs. 6,50,000, Equipments Rs. 1,50,000, Debtors Rs. 1,45,000, Cash Rs. 55,000. Revenue from Operation (Net Sales) for the year ended 31st March, 2011 was Rs. 15,00,000 and Tax Paid 50%. |
Answer» (a) Debt to Equity Ratio = 0.29 : 1, Working Capital Turnover Ratio = 15 Times, (c ) Return on Investment = 24.22%. Working Note: Net Profit before Interest and Tax = Rs. 2,18,000 (Rs 1,00,000 `xx (10)/(50) +` Rs. 18,000) Capital Employed = Rs. 9,00,000, Debt = Rs. 2,00,000, Equity = Rs. 7,00,000. |

On the basis of your reading of the passage and other visual inputs, choose the correct option to answer the questions which follow:The rapid transition to online learning, as a consequence of COVID-19, has highlighted the risks of student disengagement, and the subsequent impact on lower student achievement across multiple courses. 1. The recent pandemic has changed how millions around the globe are educated. New solutions and innovations in the education system are the need of the hour. Looking at the new digital split, the approach may increase the equality gaps. More than 500 million students across the globe had to pause their on-going studies at various levels. Refugees, displaced and migrant children: These populations often fall between the cracks as national policies might not necessarily include these vulnerable groups and they must be included and catered for in any global responses to this crisis if this has not already occurred. 5. Children and youth with disabilities: Along with other marginalized populations, including children from minority groups, are neglected in the best of times and have lower educational outcomes than their peers. 6. Young people affected by trauma or mental health issues: Schools and learning centers are places for communities to address health related issues, including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), which the most vulnerable students rely on for their wellbeing and development in order to learn. The graphic above, made by the consulting firm CB&A, shows how the adaption curve typically impacts in the online learning method users.1 With the recent shift to online education, the world sawa. These changes have and will create a degree of inconvenience, but at the same time would promote innovations and future transformations within the education system. The ‘pile-on effect’ of the coronavirus is that, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, interruptions to education can have long term implications — especially for the most vulnerable. There is a real risk of regression for children whose basic, foundational learning (reading, math, languages, etc.) was not strong to begin with. And millions of children who have already been deprived of their right to education, particularly girls, are being more exposed to health and well-being risks (both psychosocial and physical) during COVID-19-Girls: Young and adolescent girls are twice as likely to be out of school in crisis situations and face greater barriers to education and vulnerabilities such as domestic/gender-based violence when not in school.Refugees, displaced and migrant children: These populations often fall between the cracks as national policies might not necessarily include these vulnerable groups and they must be included and catered for in any global responses to this crisis if this has not already occurred.Children and youth with disabilities: Along with other marginalized populations, including children from minority groups, are neglected in the best of times and have lower educational outcomes than their peers.Young people affected by trauma or mental health issues: Schools and learning centers are places for communities to address health related issues, including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), which the most vulnerable students rely on for their wellbeing and development in order to learn. The graphic above, made by the consulting firm CB&A, shows how the adaption curve typically impacts in the online learning method users.(i) With the recent shift to online education, the world saw-a.
