If p:q=2:3 and q:r=4:5,find p:q:r

Answer»

Hi ,

P : Q = 2 : 3

p : q = ( 2 × 4 ) : ( 3 × 4 )

= 8 : 12 ----( 1 )

q : r = 4 : 5

q : r = ( 4 × 3 ) : ( 5 × 3 )

= 12 : 15 ----( 2 )

Therefore ,

From ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) ,

p : q = 8 : 12

q : r = 12 : 15

p : q : r = 8 : 12 : 15

two types of boxes a,b are to be place in a truck having capacity of 10 tons . when 150 boxes of type a and 100 boxes of type b are loaded in the truck , it weighes 10 tons . but when 260 boxes of type a are loaded in the truck , itcan still accommodate 40 boxes of type b , so that it is fully loaded . find the weight of each type of box

Answer»

Solution:

ATQ, 150A+100B= 10 tons.
=>15A+10B= 1.....(1)

Now according to second condition,

=>260A+ 40 B= 10

=> 26A+ 4B= 1....(2)

solving 1 &2 by elimination method.

multiply 1 with 2 and 2 with 5. we get.

=>30A+20B= 2.....(3)
=>130A+ 20B= 5.....(4)

Now,subtract 3 from 4.

=>-100A= -3

=> A= 3/100 tones.

putting the value of A. in 1

=> 15*3/100+4B= 1
=> 9/20+4B=1
=> (9+80B)/20=1
=> 9+80B=20
=> 80B= 11
=> B= 11/80

For the following value of x,y and z , find the product (x X y) x z and x X (y X z) and observe the results (x X y) X z = x X (y X z).x = -4/7, y = -3/8 , z = 16/5

Answer»

Hi ,

It is given that ,

X = -4/7 , y = -3/8 , z = 16/5

i ) x × ( y × z )

= ( -4/7 ) × [ ( - 3/8 ) × ( 16/5 ) ]

= ( -4/7 ) × ( -6/5 )

= 24/35 -------( 1 )

ii ) ( x × y ) × z

= [ ( - 4/7 ) × ( -3/8 ) ] × ( 16/5 )

= ( 12/56 ) × ( 16/5 )

= ( 12 × 16 )/( 56 × 5 )

= 24/35----( 2 )

From ( 1 ) and ( 2 ) , we CONCLUDE that,

x × ( y × z ) = ( x × y ) × z

[ Associative proporty under multiplication ]

I hope this HELPS you.

The taxi fare after each km when the fare is Rs15 for the first km and Rs 8for each additional km

Answer»

Answer:

Your question is incomplete

The taxi FARE after each KM, when the fare is Rs 15 for the first km and Rs 8 for each additional km, does not form an AP as the total fare (in Rs) after each km is

15, 8, 8, 8, ...

If true then ENTER 1 and if false then enter 0

Step-by-step explanation:

The taxi fare for first km=15

The taxi fare for 2nd km=15+8=23

The taxi fare for 3rd km=15+8+8=31 and so on,

Therefore, the taxi fare form the sequence 15,23,31,...

Clearly, it is an AP with first term a=15 and common difference d=8

Therefore, answer is 0.

Two numbers differ by 3. the sum of their reciprocals is 7/10 . Find the no.Thanks in Advance

Answer»

Let the numbers be x and y
given: x-y=3........(i) and 1/x + 1/y = 7/10....(ii)
from eqn..(i)
x = 3+y....(iii)
PUTTING the value of eqn (iii) in eqn (ii)
(3+y+y)/(3+y)y= 7/10
(3+2y)/(3y+y^2) = 7/10
by cross multiplication
10(3+2y) = 7(3y + y^2)
30 + 20y = 21y + 7y^2
7y^2 + y - 30 = 0
7y^2 - 14y + 15y -30 = 0
7y( y -2 ) + 15( y -2) = 0
(7y + 15)(y - 2) = 0
equating both FACTORS to zero we get
y = -15/7 and y = 2
x = 3-15/7=6/7 , x = 3+2=5
hence,
x = 5 and y = 2
the two numbers are 5 and 2

it can take 12 hours to fill a swimming pool using 2 pipes .if the pipes of larger diameter is used for 4 hours and smaller diameter for 9 hours ,only half of the pool can be filled .how long will it take for each pipe to fill the pool separately

Answer»

let the time taken by the first PIPE be x HOURS and the time taken by the SECOND pipe be y hours.

 in 1 hour the first pipe can fill it = 1/x

 in 1 hour the second pipe can fill it = 1/y

1/x +1/y = 1/12 --------------(1)

4/x = 9/9 =1/2---------------(2)

Consider 1/x be a and 1/y be b.

a + b = 1/12 -------------(3)

4A + 9b = 1/2 ----------------(4)

multiply 3 by equ (4) and then subtract equ(5) from equ(4).

4a + 4B =1/3 --------------(5)

we get, b = 1/30

y = 30.

sustituting the value of y in equ(3) we get

a + 1/30 = 1/12

x = 20.

Hence the first pipe would take 20 hours and the second pipe would take 30 hours

Sonu bought a short listed at Rs 850 for Rs892. 50 after paying tax. what is the rate of tax?

Answer»

ANSWER:

Rate of tax is 5%

Step-by-step EXPLANATION:

The list price of the item = RS 850

After Paying tax =  Rs 892. 50

Tax = Rs (892. 50- 850)

= 42.50

Now, let the x% is the rate of tax

42.50 = x% of 850

42.50 = (x/100) *850

42.50 = x*85/10

42.50*10/85 = x

425/85 = x

x= 5%

The rate of tax is 5%

Plz solve in stepits urgent

Answer»

Given,
p(x) = x^3 - 2x^2 + 3x - 1
g(x) = x^2 - 1

just PUT values of g(x) in every x in p(x)...

∴ p(g(x)) = (x^2-1)^3 - 2(x^2 - 1)^2 + 3(x^2 -1) - 1
               = x^6 + 1 + 3x^2(x^2 + 1) - 2(x^4 +1 - 2x^2) + 3x^2 - 3 - 1
               = x^6 +1 + 3x^4 + 3x^2 - 2x^4 - 2 + 4x^2 + 3x^2 - 4
   p(g(x)) = x^6 + x^4 +10x^2 - 5

∴ p(g(1)) = 1 + 1 + 10 - 5 = 7                ...............(1)
   p(-1) = -1 - 2 -3 -1 = - 7                     ...............(2)
   p(1/2) = 1/8 - 2/4 + 3/2 -1 = (1 - 4 + 12 - 8)/8 = 1/8     .....................(3)

∴ p(-1) + p(1/2) - p(g(1)) = - 7 +1/8 - 7
                                       = (- 56 + 1 - 56)/8
                                       = -111/8
