Solve : DVD Flick? |
Answer» http://www.dvdflick.net/ DVD Flick is a VIDEO to DVD authoring tool. It supports over 45 file formats (3GP, AVI, DIVX, FLV, MPEG, MP4, MJPG, QT, MOV, RM, WMV, ASF, etc), supports both NTSC & PAL TV systems, optionally adds subtitles, adds custom AUDIO tracks, creates ISO file, and more. DVD Flick is an excellent way to convert video files, in almost any format, to a DVD format that can be burnt onto a disk or saved as an ISO for later burning. Using a barrage of free tools, like ImgBurn, and adding an easy-to-use interface, it provides an excellent way of getting your movies onto DVD so they can be played in virtually all DVD players. DVD Flick will even work with a number of video files, allowing you to create a composite of your video files on the same DVD. It will, for example, burn a composite DVD of all your downloaded YouTube files (SUBJECT to copyright permission, of course). |

Solve : Firefox add-on - Text Area Resizer & Mover? |
Answer» kpac kpac FF 2.0.0.16. What exactly doesn't work?Never mind, I got it to work. Thanks anyway. One thing though... Whenever I click on the options button for the addon, Firefox freezes.... Maybe try reinstalling it? Firefox - all versions: http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/4403/Thanks, but I think I'll leave it ALONE. It's working fine, so that'll do. Quote Whenever I click on the options button for the addon, Firefox freezesDo you have ThreatFire installed?Quote from: Broni on August 27, 2008, 04:49:31 PM Do you have ThreatFire installed? Why, yes I do. But it doesn't alert me, or ANYTHING. Actually, I was going to uninstall ThreatFire because it is more hassle than anything. The program itself freezes when I click on the reports section.Unfortunately, there is a conflict on some computers (don't ask me why on some computers, because I don't know; it applies to my Vista, as well), between ThreadFire, and installing FF add-ons. I posted at ThreadFire forum, but they seem to be slow to solve it. What you have to do is, BEFORE you install any FF add-on, right click on ThreadFire ICON, and click Suspend. The add-on will install with no problem. Now, there is a very same conflict regarding clicking on add-on's Options, causing FF to freeze. Apparently, that particular add-on wasn't correctly installed, because of the above conflict. Suspend ThreatFire, and reinstall add-on (you don't have to uninstall; installing over the top works fine). Restart FF, and Options shouldn't freeze FF anymore. Note: DESPITE the above inconvenience, I keep ThreatFire, because I think, it's a very good program. |

Solve : Looking for free, legal MP3s? - Clickster? |
Answer» http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64891-order,1-page,1/description.html?tk=nl_ddxdwn Everyone loves getting something for free. With Clickster you get a double dose: This free program searches the Web for free MP3 music files from your favorite artists, and delivers them to your desktop. Clickster's developer, Robert Palmer, insists that there's no copyright issues to worry about, since the MP3s that Clickster accesses are free files stored on Web sites. As long as you don't share the files, you're safe. That said, "free" does have its price. The interface isn't very well designed, and the touted ShoutCast Internet radio features didn't work in my tests. There's no in-program Help system, so be sure to read the documentation online before you use Clickster for the first time, or you will quickly become confused. Once you figure out how to use Clickster, you can quickly search for MP3s from your favorite artists, or of particular songs. You can listen to a track from within the program before downloading it, or click the Safe Browser button to take a look at the Web site from whence it came. You can download up to three tracks at a time, even while Clickster is finding more files. Note that despite Palmer's claims, Clickster doesn't necessarily speed up downloads: Files downloaded at my CONNECTION's usual speed, no faster. Clickster lets you build Playlists that you can embed into your own Web pages--complete with a media player. Creating a Playlist is simple, but I didn't try embedding it into a Web page. Since the resulting Playlist is a simple XML file, however, it's probably fairly straightforward to get it onto your own site. Basically, Clickster functions as an MP3 search engine, streams files just fine, and lets you download supposedly legal MP3s for free. Its lack of in-program playlists and album information could turn off some music aficionados, however. It's too free to be TRUE!I don't know. I use some other means, but I found that info, so I thought, it MAY be useful for some.I love to use services like www.hypem.com to get music files off other servers, and also using Google with the quoted text "index of" Quote from: Zylstra on August 25, 2008, 02:39:13 AM I love to use services like www.hypem.com to get music files off other servers, and also using Google with the quoted text "index of" You're not supposed to say that out loud! Quote from: kpac on August 25, 2008, 03:39:42 AM Quote from: Zylstra on August 25, 2008, 02:39:13 AMI love to use services like www.hypem.com to get music files off other servers, and also using Google with the quoted text "index of" In that case, you'd better not say this either Code: [Select]-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3)lol it's like swearing in code...!! i'm so sad.... I don't quite understand the first post... Quote from: Broni on August 16, 2008, 02:01:59 PM Clickster's developer, Robert Palmer, insists that there's no copyright issues to worry about, since the MP3s that Clickster accesses are free files stored on Web sites. As long as you don't share the files, you're safe. they are allowed to distribute the files for free but your not... how does that work?? FBQuote from: Dias de verano on August 25, 2008, 07:32:58 AM
Hey, that's pretty cool. type Code: [Select]"index of" Google search into Google for lots of tips I seem to be MISSING something here. Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on August 25, 2008, 08:38:59 AM I seem to be missing something here. Maybe, maybe not.... I can't tell which post you are referring to, or whether it is the whole thread. Maybe it was my Google search which baffled you? As everybody knows, you can include various keywords and symbols into Google searches. Code: [Select]-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) +"My favourite band" 1. -inurl: There MUST be one of these in the url: htm, html, php 2. intitle: This must be in the title: "index of" 3. + means the text following (quoted if contains spaces) must be present 4. +(text1|text2) means that at least one of text1 or text2 must be present. All those combine to catch this type of page The OP (and the proprietor of Clickster) seems to think that finding files this way means that you are not sharing them, and therefore not guilty of breaking copyright. I am not sure if that makes sense, any more than it makes sense to say that walking into a house through an unlocked door and taking stuff and leaving is not burglary. Quote "index of" Google search That Google search will yield tips about this type of search. So, as you can see, you don't need Clickster. Hmmm.....Interesting.... It actually makes sense, thanks. Look at this for "free mp3's": http://www.geocities.com/my_haz_runs/ |

Solve : Comodo Registry Cleaner BETA? |
Answer» This is being advertised as very safe and I do trust Comodo. It is still beta so USE with caution!! Comodo Registry CLEANER 1.0.0.12 Beta Some notes on the Comodo registry cleaner. I'm FAR from an experienced reviewer so here is a simple review. Download SIZE: 9.01 MB License: Freeware Requires: Win XP/Vista Install was smooth, no toolbar offers or anything to avoid. GUI is very similar to the Comodo firewall. Has a startup manager as well as many settings including scheduled scans. You can Cleanup, Compact and Backup the registry. It gives an option to jump to the registry key or add it to the ignore list. Also lists unsafe to remove entries. Automatically backs up the registry before cleaning. Overall I like it. Very easy to use and gives a lot of information on what you are removing. 361 errors found and removed. All is well. Thanks for the link. Although I wasn't swayed by their anti-virus, I SWEAR by their firewall, so I might as well give this a chance because I know they're trustworthy.I was happy with it. Always nervous when running a new reg cleaner, especially beta, but I looked over all 300 plus entries before taking the plunge. All good Sounds promising; I'm downloading it right now. |

Solve : Remove thumb drives quickly? |
Answer» A program that allows you to quickly remove USB devices in Windows. It was originally designed to remove only USB pen drives but will now eject any USB device. You probably have several thumb drives. They're great for toting around your documents. Not only are thumb drives convenient, they're more durable than CDs and floppy discs. Still, you need to remove them correctly from the USB port. Windows has the Safely Remove Hardware option. But this is cumbersome. You get several dialog boxes before you can eject a drive. And then there's the aggravating message you get when the drive is ready to be removed. It’s especially useful when dealing with multiple USB devices and for Vista users who don’t want the ‘now SAFE to remove this device’ dialog box to appear. http://quick.mixnmojo.com/usb-disk-ejectorAn easier way to remove them, is to take your thumb and your index finger and pull the drive out of the usb port. The cool thing about this method, is you don't need software to remove it, thus taking up less disk space. Okay, now seriously who uses the "safely remove hardware" anyways? In Windows 98, it was necessary because it would crash your computer, but it doesn't hurt XP and Vista and it doesn't hurt the drive. Quote from: michaewlewis on May 22, 2008, 09:41:56 AM Okay, now seriously who uses the "safely remove hardware" anyways? In Windows 98, it was necessary because it would crash your computer, but it doesn't hurt XP and Vista and it doesn't hurt the drive. I did know a guy who "burned out" his thumb drive by removing it while data was still being transferred to/from the drive. He was using XP. In Linux you definitely would want to "safely eject" the drive (so it can unmount) before removing it. One advantage that Linux has over XP is that when you INSERT a thumb drive, it puts an icon on your desktop screen for quick access and easy removal. Does Vista do this?I thought it was common sense that you don't pull out a flash drive while it's reading/writing... What's the point of copying something to the drive if you don't even let it finish copying? I don't usually use the safely eject function in linux, either. No problems here. Again, we seem to be stuck on the assumption that since the old versions of windows had problems, we still can't do it.See how many "RAW" references there are here and other Forums...a direct result of not using "Safely Remove Hardware". I was copying a folder (about 500MB) to my flash drive but half way through, I unplugged it thinking it was finished and my flash drive got so screwed up I needed to reformat it. The safely remove feature in Windows would stop you from EJECTING when the drive is still in use.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on May 22, 2008, 11:50:25 PM I was copying a folder (about 500MB) to my flash drive but half way through, I unplugged it thinking it was finished and my flash drive got so screwed up I needed to reformat it. it was half-way through and you thought it was finished Win98 wouldn't crash, it would show a Blue Screen but would bring it back to life. It's really nice to see just how forgiving we are of each others' opinions and mistakes, as if none of us ever make them or have them. I can easily see how someone would accidentally unplug a flash drive. I don't find the dialog boxes or unmounting in Linux to be all that cumbersome in view of the benefits I get from have gigabytes of storage info at my literal fingertips. How quickly we've forgotten floppy disks, once the acme of portable storage.i once unplugged m flash drive it wasnt copying anything to it or wasnt being used at all and i unplugged it then put it in my sis' laptop because she needed it for her report for school or something and it needed reformatted. i shoulda just ejected it instead of just pullin it out Quote from: Aegis on May 26, 2008, 05:11:17 PM It's really nice to see just how forgiving we are of each others' opinions and mistakes, as if none of us ever make them or have them. No, What I meant was if the progress bar was only 50%, how can that be finished? I know Write-Caching really screws stuff up too, so the ejection process is very useful for flushing any write buffers. I think it's somewhat strange that damage occurs to the filesystem when removed without ejection, even without doing anything, but it happens . Doesn't happen with floppies unless they are in use, so what is accessing the Drive that makes a eject necessary?OK, I get what you're saying...maybe the progress bar got lost...Quote from: BC_Programmer on May 26, 2008, 04:34:18 PM it was half-way through and you thought it was finishedI went to the wrong window, thinking it was finished. It was also the end of the lesson so I was in a hurry...Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on May 27, 2008, 02:55:20 AM Quote from: BC_Programmer on May 26, 2008, 04:34:18 PMit was half-way through and you thought it was finishedI went to the wrong window, thinking it was finished. It was also the end of the lesson so I was in a hurry... Ah OK. Now I understand I remember back in School I kept all my stuff on a 256MB USB drive. Inevitably my laptop would hang when copying data to/from the drive SOMETIMES. Then, at some point, I went to open my project, and it said the file was missing (project file). So I decide I have to make the project file again, no biggie. I try to navigate to the folder, and it is gone! everything else seems intact at a glance, but upon further inspection I discover that every single file is only 4K in length. Alright, So I run chkdsk on it. Strangely it finds over 1 Gig of lost fragments... only makes the amount it could fit. So I copy that file off the flash drive, stream them all into one file, and begin reconsituting the code- it contains all the data of every file on the disk after the first 4K. I actually MANAGED to salvage one of my larger projects, but the one I was working on only had the logo left. It didn't really matter anyway because the hard drive I copied it all over to was screwed by accidentally sending a CD-RW firmware upgrade to the HD instead of the CD-RW. Wow. Congrats. Sounds complex... |

Solve : abcTajpu - Firefox add-on? |
Answer» https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/459 Type in accented letters, international characters, and various symbols into Firefox or Thunderbird, either simply by using a context menu (there being support for many LANGUAGES French, German, Spanish, Italian, ESPERANTO, and so forth), or quickly by keyboard macro (you can even define your own). For example, the three keystrokes to compose e-circumflex are: e ^ INSERT. Or in two keystrokes as: e alt-F7. The extension supports the CEN Multilingual European Subset, and was ORIGINALLY developed for European Language Day. The extension can run with its default configuration, or choose languages and hot keys. To add language specific menus - from tools.abcTajpu TICK the checkboxes for the languages you wish to appear in context menus, then click :-) for ok or X to cancel. Beyond that, power users can open tools.abcTajpu, and choose the radiobox for the hot key desired and suitable for your system (noting that this takes effect on newly opened windows). With a hot key setup (a function key or the insert key), you don't NEED to use the context menu, you can just type in an internet form for example a`INSERT to get a a-grave. (Not all hot keys will work with all systems or with all addons.) Finally, for the really keen, macros can also be defined in tools.abcTajpu -- a German speaker might choose "ss=%u00df|A[Ee]=%u00c4|ae=%u00e4|O[Ee]=%u00d6|oe=%u00f6|U[Ee]=%u00dc|ue=%u00fc" - now type (three keystrokes) AeINSERT for A umlaut. There are fast hot keys, which can be turned off if they collide with other extensions. For example, alt-F2 for umlaut, alt-F7 for circumflex, alt-F8 for tilde, alt-F10 for acute, alt-F11 for grave. When on a form, try alt-F1 (or shift-alt-F1) for a European keyboard. Also, control-alt-F1 to enter the hex number of any Unicode letter; and shift-control-alt-F1 to show the Unicode numbers of any selected text. I już jestem szczęśliwy. € £ ¥..... |

Solve : Free Sysinternals Windows utilities now available online, 24/7? |
Answer» http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=460 If you troubleshoot Windows PCs for fun or profit, then chances are you’ve used one or more tools from Sysinternals. Microsoft bought the company and its amazing library of DIAGNOSTIC, troubleshooting, and management utilities in 2006, and the collection has been continually updated ever since. It’s also still completely free. A few WEEKS ago, I ran into Sysinternals co-founder Mark Russinovich at a technical CONFERENCE, where he told me about a new Sysinternals service that was in private beta testing. Today, I can finally break the news that Sysinternals Live is now open to the public. Sysinternals Live offers direct access to world-class Windows utilitiesThe new service enables you to execute the most recent version of any Sysinternals tool directly from an Internet-connected PC, without having to hunt for the executable file and manually download it first. To access the complete library of tools, use either of these methods from a Windows-based PC: * Go to the Sysinternals Live directory (http://live.sysinternals.com) and click the name of the tool you want to run. Because the directory listing is a bare-bones HTML file, it can be used in any browser. * If you know the name of the executable file for the tool you want to use, enter it directly, using the syntax \\live.sysinternals.com\tools\, where is the name of the executable file. (Note the UNC syntax uses backslashes, not slashes, as in a URL. Start with a pair of backslashes to indicate that live.sysinternals.com is the remote server, and don’t include the angle brackets with the tool name.) If you’ve never used Sysinternals tools before, you’d do well to start at the Sysinternals home page, which includes descriptions of each tool, along with download links and installation instructions. But if you are already familiar with one or more tools in the library, you can create direct shortcuts to those tools on your desktop or on the USB flash drive you keep with your emergency toolkit. Here are three shortcuts to get you started, all of which have been updated in 2008: Process Explorer (live.sysinternals.com\tools\procexp.exe) - This Task Manager replacement OCCUPIES the number-one slot on my top 10 list of all-time favorite Windows programs. As I noted in that writeup, “It provides system information, a hierarchical view of all running processes (including services), and an overwhelming number of technical details about how each process uses CPU and memory. It all runs in real time, making it an ideal troubleshooting tool.” AutoRuns (live.sysinternals.com\tools\autoruns.exe) - Are you still using Msconfig to see which processes are automatically running when you start a Windows PC? Then you literally don’t know what you’re missing. There are dozens of nooks and crannies in the Windows file system and registry where auto-starting programs can park themselves. This tool finds them all. More importantly, it allows you to disable or remove any ENTRY you find. Process Monitor (live.sysinternals.com\tools\procmon.exe) - If you’re trying to figure out exactly what a program or process is doing (especially if you’re actively on the hunt for malware), this tool is your best friend. It combines the features of the now-retired Filemon and Regmon utilities to trace (and capture in an optional log file) the impact of a process as it starts, runs, and exits. The “live” tools should work equally well in x86 and x64 versions of Windows Vista and Server 2008; I ran into a bug with Process Explorer and Handle.exe in my x64 testing, but corrected versions of both utilities were scheduled to go online today before Sysinternals Live opened to the public. Also, in Windows Vista and Server 2008 you can use “live” versions of command-line tools, but most require that you enter the command name in UNC syntax from an elevated prompt (click Start, type cmd in the Search box, select Cmd.exe from the results list, and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter). The command-line tools I tested worked perfectly exactly as expected.hmm... I can't get it to open the remote files. It made firefox hang when I copied \\live.sysinternals.com\tools\procexp.exe to the address bar, and windows explorer didn't do anything.I just modified my post. Those backslahes were causing problems... live.sysinternals.com\tools\procexp.exe should work |

Solve : RegToy? |
Answer» HERE Tweak Windows to your heart's content. Want to bend Windows to your will? Then you'll want to give RegToy a try. It lets you customize just about every aspect of how Windows works, from the taskbar and Start menu, to the Windows EXPLORER context menu, how your desktop and icons appear, and much more. The number of settings you can change is astonishing. Vista users will particularly welcome it, because it gives you control over many Vista-specific features. In Vista, you can turn the Windows Mobility Center on and off, disable Windows ERROR reporting, hiding the Control Panel, and much more. Note that if you INSTALL this for Windows Vista, you'll have to install it as an administrator. And if you install it for XP, you'll have to download Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Solve : Optimize Firefox Performance Via Defragmentation Add-on Applications? |
Answer» http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/09/06/optimize-firefox-performance-via-defragmentation-add-on-applications/ Quote Mozilla Firefox browser version 3 and above stores a variety of configuration data such as bookmarks, history, RSS feeds, cookies, etc in its self managed and self contained SQLite databases. Over time, the database will get fragmented. The size of the database will get inflated with more and more junk data mixed together with real data. This will technically affect the browser’s performance, e.g. slow down the browser’s loading, delay the start up, CAUSE overall speed drops, etc. To boost and optimize the Firefox browser’s performance, users need to defragment the browser from time to time. By defragmenting the database, users will actually “vacuum” the database to get rid of old and junk data, thus optimizing its performance again. Two add-ons with links to them listed at the above site.Broni, I tried running the code in the error console window...hitting Enter and pressing evaluae did nothing... I DLoaded the 2nd app listed and ran it and am seeing a noted improvement in FireFox's response...Thanx Again. P.S. It does not install as an extension so i just have it in my Tools folder on the Desktop for easy running...If I copy and paste that code, I get "Error: illegal character" Investigation showed that the opening quote before VACUUM and the closing quote after needed to be changed to regular double quotes. Then it works. (Well, it didn't give an error) Changed it to double quotes open and closing and it just sits there here on my end...Ran the new revised code...nuthin... But i just optomised using the other tool not long ago so it may have not needed anything... I'll try it later...Thanx !Here is the cleaned up code Code: [Select]Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-history-service;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsPIPlacesDatabase).DBConnection.executeSimpleSQL("VACUUM");I edited my INITIAL post with Salmon's code. Initially, I ran the second application, so I really didn't check the code. Very well then The Code DIDNT work for me but i tried out the second application and firefox wasn't to going to slow for me but i can definitely tell an improvement and am going to install it on my gfs computer as well. Solve : Razor Mamba wireless gaming mouse? |
Answer» Ok so i have had a mamba since mid june now. I have had two of them so far. The first one lasted about two weeks. It has a wireless pairing button on the wireless receiver that broke off when i pressed it. The second one lasted me about 3 weeks until the same PROBLEM happened again. So now for the past few weeks I have been e-mailing their customer support back and forth about it. And I have asked to refund it but they will only REPLACE it. Which i don't understand when I have told them I have gone through two of them and am not very pleased with it. So now they finally sent me the e-mail with the rma # so i can SEND it back and receive a new one (which i plan on selling). |

Solve : OLED? |
Answer» So how are we all feeling about OLED looks quite impressive on paper. Organic Light Emitting Diodes. Very impressive stuff indeed. From what I've seen the size to cost ratio is a little high but I'm fairly excited about this. Apparently you could create wallpaper out of this stuff which would mean full wall displays with HD quality. You may want to CHECK this neat little hand held computer out: http://www.oqo.com/ It uses OLEDs in its display.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on July 06, 2009, 07:09:35 AM You may want to check this neat little hand held computer out: That is so sweet. Time to save up.As with everything the price will EVENTUALLY come down... But how many walrusus's are being slaughtered for this new technology ? ?Quote from: patio on July 06, 2009, 05:11:25 PM But how many walrusus's are being slaughtered for this new technology ? ? I know those poor synthesized Walrus's. When will we learn?Exciting indeed fellas! Being an ex-component level electronic repair technician (that means I have fixed a lot of TVs in my day... among other things) I have been watching this specific technology for the past 10 years very closely. At one point in time I thought that it would "ready" by the time they shut off the terrestrial BASED analog TV signals (here in the USA) in favor of the HDTV signals. That of COURSE didn't come to pass. But it is still becoming more and more feasible. They had been having problems with the OLED longevity. Now that they have that worked out, it promises to be the go to technology! I see it even replacing the atypical plasma display (EXCEPT maybe in the most enormous screen applications... football stadiums and such). Anyway I cant wait to see the first HDTV using OLEDs! I know that they are out there, but like the Cobalt Blue Crab I've yet to see one eyeball to screen display.I spend more than 3/4 of the year out of town, I'll stick with paint.Theres a keyboard with OLED screens in the keys. The optimus maximus Saw a video of that keyboard. Much @$$ does it kick. |

Solve : Enhance Built-In Windows Task Manager? |
Answer» http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/10/01/download-free-task-manager-extension-20-to-enhance-built-in-windows-task-manager/ Task Manager provides information about programs and processes running on your computer and is used to monitor key indicators of your computer’s performance. The most frequent usage is to check the status of the programs that are running and KILL the program that has been stopped responding. However, it still lack of certain information needed for analyzing. The Task Manager Extension has been developed to expand the basic functionality of Window Task Manager and provide powerful features for analyzing over running processes. Task Manager Extension is a plug-in for Windows Task Manager. The CHANGES have been made in Applications and Processes tab while Performance and Networking tab remain no change. In Application tab, Process ID (PID) is listed for each of running process. The changes can be seen obviously is Processes tab, icons for each of running process are shown and Windows system processes are grayed out to let you differentiate between system and non system process. On top of this, few useful items have been added to the right-click context menu for each of the running process. You can get a lot of process information by right-click on particular process ITEM such as files, modules, handles, windows, threads, memory map, process security, information and security. Additional ‘Extension’ submenu has been added to the top menu, which to provide the feature to find used files or modules, show all handles and loaded drivers for all running processes. You can setup Task Manager Extension to be automatically loaded after user logon by going to Extension -> Options, then check “Run during logon” checkbox and press OK button. The Task Manager Extension is open source and compatible to run on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003. However, it doesn’t work on Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows X64 and Windows Vista. To INSTALL Task Manager Extension, go to here to download Task Manager Extension v.2.1 binaries. If you are interesting of how the code is returned, go to here to download Task Manager Extension v.2.1 sources. The package come with 3 files (TaskManagerEx.exe, TaskManagerExDll.dll, Uninstall.cmd), unzip it and follow below steps to enable the plug-in installed on Windows Task Manager: • Copy TaskManagerEx.exe and TaskManagerExDll.Dll to any folder on your computer. • Double click to run TaskManagerEx.exe. • Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+Del and select Task Manager. Alternatively, right-click on taskbar then choose Task Manager. You should see Windows Task Manager (Extended) displayed. If you would like to disable Task Manager Extension feature, just run Uninstall.cmd and Task Manager will be restored back to original setting. |

Solve : Track changes in registry & filesystem? |
Answer» Some software come with hidden malware which goes undetected by many antivirus software. By analyzing the change made by the software installer to both your registry and file system, it can be much more easier to remove the hidden malware. Same with Total Uninstall... or registry monitor and file monitor or process monitor. Of course regmon, filemon, and procmon don't have oversized buttons. ADDITIONALLY the idea of taking a "snapshot" is ridiculous, especially given that there are functions to monitor the registry for changes just as there are for files. No over-sized buttons ? ?.......Darn ! sorry you did not like it, i thought it was cool given the fact that some of your other "reviews" have ended up being infested and or triggering AV programs I think it's safe to say that perhaps you should be a tad more careful what you use?B.C said- ( Additionally the idea of taking a "snapshot" is ridiculous, especially given that there are functions to monitor the registry for changes just as there are for files.) looking at total uninstalls help file it seems a "snapshot" is what it does so are you saying that it too is ridiculous? Solve : Getting products for review?? |
Answer» Does anyone know of some SITES where they would be willing to to let me review their paid products for free? Engaget.com gets phones shipped to them for free to test and they just have to pay for shipping to ship them back. Some site (forgot the name) got WINDOWS 7 to review before it was available to manufacturers (of course I'm not expecting that because my site isn't huge) but if I could GET some ideas that would be great. I already have 2 companies which let me review their products (1 hardware and 1 software). of course I'm not expecting that because my site isn't huge That's the key. Big companies will give a free whatever if they know that a lot of people are going to see the review. Start emailing companies. Once a few get on board others will be more likely to follow. Post your reviews on DIGG and Stumble them to get your user base BUILT up. There is a bunch of bigtime competition already doing what you want to. Stick with it and it's always possible. |

Solve : Anti Wi-Fi paint? |
Answer» Quote from: Chris7251m on November 10, 2009, 09:34:55 PM Seems like this could cause problems within your home. I wonder how much testing has been done on it. How could living in a faraday cage cause problems?Quote from: Geek-9pm on October 30, 2009, 06:46:06 PM And ... the problem with assuming the paint needs to cover everything is that people forget that radio waves travel in a straight line. vents and so forth on the ceiling are unlikely to provide anybody EXCEPT baloonists a straight-line path to your Wireless access point. And the areas where you can get a signal outside the house at reasonable ALTITUDES are so small as to be undetectable. And you could always secure it with WPA or WPA2 as well; I'm sure you'd notice somebody sitting in your rose bushes for a few days trying to crack your encryption. The Paint would also make such encryption NEARLY impossible anyway- it relies on intercepting signals sent from and to other devices; chances are it will be nearly impossible to find a location that has a straight-line path to both the access point and one of the connected wireless devices.Quote ...straight-line path to your Wireless access point..At close range any opening is leak. It is not light, it is a radio emission orders of magnitude longer the a light wave. In fact, a small opening disburses the radiation. A light switch is about the right size to do this. Somebody might want to make this a science project at school. Get a handy talkie and a big sheet of aluminum and a homemade field strength meter. You will find the sheet blocks the emission, a light switch size opening lets it through, and not line of sight. It's electromagnetic radiation. it travels in a straight line. Next you'll say it travels at a different speed every third tuesday... Quote from: BC_Programmer on November 11, 2009, 08:43:18 AM It's electromagnetic radiation. it travels in a straight line.Read my post again until you understand it. Please. When a radio wave comes the a large metal sheet with a hole in ti, the hole disburses the emission. Do I need to draw you a picture? It is too hard to visualize? The point was that an opening the size of a light switch will send the the radiation in a broad beam. (At microwave frequencies.) Quote from: Geek-9pm on November 11, 2009, 08:53:38 AM Read my post again until you understand it. Please. So you have a microwave transmitter in your router and laptop? I've been involved in setting up a microwave transmitter, and they do indeed need line of site to operate.Quote I've been involved in setting up a microwave transmitter, and they do indeed need line of site to operate. Then you should know about aperture dispersion and aperture coupling. Was that not in your study guide when you got your Radio Engineer license? These relate to methods used in antenna design, and can make the microwave beam more narrow, when used as part of a design. However, a random aperture in a nearby conductive sheet becomes a security issue. Like an opening in a wall with conductive paint, A light switch hole is a size that will pass microwaves used the 802.11 a/b specs. But you can eliminate the problem by painting the inside of the switch plate. Of course, we are not talking about antenna design in this topic. We are talking about using paint to eliminate radiation from the router or Desktop or Laptop from escaping from the room and presenting an opportunity for someone in the next room eavesdropping on the private network. If there is an opening in the wall about the size of a light switch, it becomes a form of aperture coupling and will disperse into a somewhat wider beam. This is not an issue if the spy is 200 yards away. But it is an issue if the spy is just two doors down on the same floor. |
