Answer»

The STEPS to be taken to minimize environmental degradation by industry are:

Minimizing water pollution:

1. Minimizing use water for processing by reusing and recycling it in two or more SUCCESSIVE stages.

2. Harvesting of rainwater to meet water requirements.

3. Treating hot water and effluents before releasing them in RIVERS and ponds.

4. Treatment of industrial effluents done in three phases:

a. Primary treatment by MECHANICAL means. This involves screening, grinding, flocculation and sedimentation.

b. SECONDARY treatment by biological process.

c. Tertiary treatment by biological, chemical and physical processes. This involves recycling of wastewater.

Hello friends pls tell me 10 advantages and 10 disadvantages of plastics ...Don't spam or copy

Answer»

Some of th advantages are;

low weight = less ENERGY to transport and distribute, and use.

low energy consumption to make 1 bag, compared to alternatives.

durable, can be used many times,

recycling. Can be recycled. This is ofc depending on type of polymer used, and how it is made. And, it is normaly depending on national laws, and legislation. If there is a law, that prohibit recycling, than the bags will be recycled. If there is no laws, then there is no incentive to RECYCLE and it can be an environ mental problem. So, this is either.

low material cost. Very little material is used to make 1 bag. so it is material efficient. The material can come from a source that is limited. (based on oil/natural gas), or it can be made of a natural source, like plant based polymers, or some other source of organic sustainable source.

It will not let water penetrate. So it will protect what you carry. It can be made to keep oxygen out. so, a polymer bag, wrapped around “food” will help you to store food for a longer time. (wrapping food with plastic) maybe a bit on the side here, but there are many “bag solutions”) Like food for animals are protected with a “polymer bag”, and so KEEPING oxygen out, the “best before” date is longer.

good isolating properties. From both COLD and warm.

saves forrest. You dont have to cut down trees, or plant cotton to make an alternative to a polymer bag.

Negative sides.

-recycling. We have experienced , that recycling is depending on national law. You have to have national /international laws that prohibit recycling. Otherwise, polymer bags will end up as a waste product in nature.

If polymer bags end up in nature. They will use a very long time to degrade.

In nature, polymer bags can “block” stomach on birds, sea animals and other animals. They will then die slowly, and painfully.

In nature, polymer bags (most of them) will float on water. The density is lower than water /sea water. Some polymers, (very few) are heavier than water, and will sink to the bottom. There they will sediment, and so be a less environmentally problem. Some polymers like this, are POM, PVC, and PVDF. Polymers not likely to be used in “consumer bags”. Normally only used in special bags, for industrial use. But, “consumer bags” could be made heavier, and so, they would sink in water, and the problem in regards of environment would be less. (not 0).

polymers bags (most of them) are flammable. So, they can burn if they are close to a heat source. The negative side with this is something to take notice of. Many fires at home, are “silent fires”. There will be a phase, where you have a lot of CO and CO2 gas, before the fire expands. CO gas, is a silent killer. Most bags are made of PE, og PP. When this burns with a low temperature (around 500 degree C or less) it will make a lot of CO. If you have othere “sources” of PE or PP polymer in your home, like a carpet or something, the amount of gas can be high. I dont have a statistic to refere to, but i know that there are enough home fires that have a scenario like this. So, it should be mentioned. (but you must have a lot of bags, stored close to a potential fire hazard b4 this could be a potential problem. So its not high on the list)

additives. some bags have additives, that can be an environmental problem. And are toxic. This is depending of national legislation. But that list can be long, like stabilizers like BPA, phosphite, UV-stab and so on.

the bag can fail, and what you carry can be ruined.

Many aspects, that is a negative side, can be “solved” by either national legislation, and/or design of the bag. The bag can be “made” so that it can be reused. Recycled , or get another end use. Like making candles , fuel, or something else. But, with no “laws” there will be no “control”. And the negative aspect will be there. Either national laws, and/or international laws must make a set of rules for how polymer bags can be used in the right manner.

There must ALSO be remembered that the alternatives might be less good.

:-) hope it helps you..........

2. Database:

Database is the collection of inter-related data on various subjects. It is USUALLY in computerized form and can be retrieved whenever required. There are several Distribution Information Centres (DICs) in our country that are LINKED with each other and with the central information network having access to international database.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India has taken up the task of COMPILING a database on issues like wildlife, forest cover, wastelands etc.

3. Environmental Information System (ENVIS):

ENVIS established in 1982 aims on providing environmental information to decision makers, policy planners, engineers and scientists all over the country. ENVIS centres work for generating a network of database in areas like pollution control, clean technologies, biodiversity, renewable energy, wildlife, environmental management and remote sensing.

Why do we need to travel?

Answer»

HUMANS LOVE to TRAVEL. Mentally or physically, they escape to other places. They crave adventure. They seek the unknown. They want to see new places, learn new things, enjoy new experiences and then return home to the familiar, the predictable, the secure, before TAKING off again on their travels.

This departure-return behaviour has its origins, perhaps, in the EARLY exploratory behaviour of the child. Research has shown that children who are "securely attached" to their PARENTS, sure of their affection and PROTECTION, and who know that their parents will respond to their needs, are more independent, adventurous and exploratory in their play and behaviour.
