What changes were brought about in the spatial pattern of the city of bombay from 18 to the 19 century |
Answer» The modern city of Bombay took shape in the 19th century. The city was built by the joining together ofmany islands, a process that was more or less completed by the first half of the century. Reclamations were then started, a process that continues till today. During the latter half of this century, the importance of Bombay as a centre of cotton trade, specially during the American Civil War (1861-65), created a pool of wealth, not only AMONG the British, but also among Indians. Much of this money was channelled into REBUILDING the core of the town into a grand showpiece. The First INDIAN War of Independence, in 1857, MAKES a convenient watershed between these two streams of development. Before the War of Independence, India was governed by the East India Company; after the war it REVERTED to the Crown |

What is the role of muslim league in national struggle |
Answer» Heya.... Here is your answer.... Muslim League, original name All India Muslim League, political group that led the movement calling for a separate Muslim nation to be created at the time of the partition of British India (1947). The Muslim League was founded in 1906 to SAFEGUARD the rights of Indian Muslims. At first the league was encouraged by the British and was generally favourable to their RULE, but the organization ADOPTED self-government for India as its goal in 1913. For several decades the league and its leaders, notably Mohammed Ali Jinnah, called for Hindu-Muslim unity in a united and independent India. It was not until 1940 that the league called for the formation of a Muslim state that would be separate from the projected independent country of India. The league wanted a separate nation for India’s Muslims because it feared that an independent India would be dominated by Hindus. Jinnah and the Muslim League led the struggle for the partition of British India into separate Hindu and Muslim states, and after the formation of Pakistan in 1947 the league BECAME Pakistan’s dominant political party. In that year it was renamed the All Pakistan Muslim League. But the league functioned less effectively as a modern political party in Pakistan than it had as a mass-based pressure group in British India, and hence it gradually declined in popularity and cohesion. In the elections of 1954 the Muslim League lost power in East Pakistan (now BANGLADESH), and the party lost power in West Pakistan (now Pakistan) soon afterward. By the late 1960s the party had split into various factions, and by the 1970s it had disappeared altogether. Thanks...!!! XD Sorry baby 'wink' |

Name a place where congress decided to launch civil disobedience movement from the lesson nationalism in india |
Answer» Britain’s Salt Acts prohibited Indians from collecting or selling salt, a staple in the Indian diet. Citizens were forced to buy the vital mineral from the British, who, in addition to exercising a monopoly over the manufacture and sale of salt, also exerted a heavy salt tax. Although India’s poor suffered most under the tax, Indians required salt. Defying the Salt Acts, Gandhi reasoned, would be an ingeniously simple WAY for many Indians to break a British law nonviolently. He declared resistance to British salt policies to be the unifying theme for his new campaign of satyagraha, or mass civil disobedience. |
