| Answer» \xa0The Election Commission of India grants recognition of national or state party to certain political parties based on their poll performance. The number of recognised parties keep on changing on the basis of their performance in General elections.This recognition gives them privileges like allocation of party symbols, provision of time for political broadcasts on the state owned television and radio stations and access to electoral rolls. Every national party is allotted a symbol exclusively reserved for its use throughout the country. Similarly, every state party is allotted a symbol exclusively reserved for its use in the state or states in which it is recognised.
