Y u Jst asked me by name!! I haven\'t answered any questions yet except one Ur most wc Ya u thanks Khilafat movement was started by the brothers like Muhammad Ali and Shaukat Ali. It was because when the First World War got over at that tym Ottoman Turkey was defeated. There were rumors spreaded that a harsh treaty was going to be imposed on the Ottoman emperor. He was the spiritual head of the Islamic world i.e., the Khalifa. Hence to defend the Khalifa\'s temporal power a Khilafat committee was set up in March 1919 in Bombay. Ghandhiji saw this opportunity to bring Muslims and Hindus together for the freedom struggle. Hence he too joined this movement. He started the non-cooperation movement as well as supported the Khilafat movement... The impact of this was Hindus and Muslims came under the same umbrella and started the freedom struggle.... Who I?!! |
