Can anyone tell me what is osmoregulation. |

Answer» ?Thank you so much for telling the answer. ??? Regulating high amount of water and ione in cell is called osmoregulation.??????? Osmoregulation\xa0is the active regulation of the\xa0osmotic pressure\xa0of an\xa0organism\'s\xa0body fluids, detected by\xa0osmoreceptors, to maintain thehomeostasis\xa0of the organism\'s\xa0water\xa0content; that is, it maintains the\xa0fluid balance\xa0and the\xa0concentration\xa0of\xa0electrolytes\xa0(salts\xa0in\xa0solution) to keep the fluids from becoming too diluted or concentrated. Osmotic pressure is a measure of the tendency of water to move into onesolution\xa0from another by\xa0osmosis. The higher the osmotic pressure of a solution, the more water tends to move into it. Pressure must be exerted on the\xa0hypertonic\xa0side of a selectively permeable\xa0membrane\xa0to prevent\xa0diffusion\xa0of water by osmosis from the side containing pure water.Organisms in aquatic and terrestrial environments must maintain the right concentration of\xa0solutes\xa0and amount of water in their body fluids; this involves\xa0excretion\xa0(getting rid of\xa0metabolic nitrogen wastes\xa0and other substances such as\xa0hormones\xa0that would be toxic if allowed to accumulate in the\xa0blood) through organs such as the\xa0skin\xa0and the\xa0kidneys. |
