Define pepsinogen |
|
Answer» Pepsinogen is the inactive form of pepsin secreted by gastric gland in stomach. HCl convert pepsinogen( inactive form) into pepsin(active form) for conversion of protein into peptons in acidic solution. Pepsinogen is a digestive enzyme that helps in the digestion of proteins. Enzyme pepsinogen is converted to pepsin and then the proteins are converted into amino acids. The hydrochloric acid secreted in the stomach activates the pepsinogen enzyme required to digest proteins. |
