Define the blood group system |
| Answer» The blood grouping system plays a very important role during the blood transfusion. If another blood type is introduced into our body, our immune system recognizes it as foreign and attacks it, resulting in a transfusion reaction. Mismatches with the ABO and Rh blood types result in most serious and life-threatening transfusion reactions. Hence, it is advisable to have a blood group checked before the blood transfusion. | |
