Answer» Metal form positive ions by losing electrons but non metals form negative ions by gaining electrons. Metals form basic oxides but non metal form acidic or neutral oxides. Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity but non metals are not good conductor of heat and electricity (except graphite which is a good conductor of electricity).
