Graphite is good conductor OF electricity but diamond is not .why?

Answer» In graphte each carbon is bonded with adjacent 3 carbons only.Since the valence electrons present in carbon are four, one electron is free.Since their is a free electron, it moves freely and conducts electricity. In diamond, each carbon atom is bonded with 4 carbons in a tetra-hedral structure, there are no free electrons to conduct electricity.Hence graphite is a good conducter of electricity but diamond is a insulater.
Because graphite has one free electron and diamond are tightly packed.
Because graphite has free electrons while the electrons of diamond are tightly packed..
