How can we identify the group and period of an element without the help of periodic table ?

Answer» And if we want to identify the group than the most important property of group is the increase in sheels in it like k than l and so on but the valence electron will be same .
Its simple groups can be identified by valency while periods by subshell
Ya by its atomic no and properties of that particular element . We can too find the rest of its corresponding group member by adding the magic nos : 2 , 8 , 8 , 18 , 18 , 32 . For example - hydrogen has atomic no 1 so we will add 2 resulting in lithium , which next member of group 1 alkali metals and so on ..
Group goes from top to bottom while period goes from left to right .
