How do metals react with acid and base? Give chemical equations also. |
| Answer» When an\xa0acid reacts\xa0with\xa0metal, a salt and hydrogen\xa0are\xa0produced:\xa0acid\xa0+\xa0metal\xa0→ salt + hydrogen An example: nitric\xa0acid\xa0+ calcium → calcium nitrate + hydrogen The salt that is produced depends upon which\xa0acid\xa0and which\xa0metal react.\xa0When\xa0base reacts with metal, it produces respective salt and hydrogen gas. The presence of hydrogen gas is confirmed by a pop sound that is produced by hydrogen gas when it comes in contact with fire. Sodium hydroxide gives hydrogen gas and sodium zincate when\xa0reacts\xa0with zinc\xa0metal. | |
