How does nutrition occur in unicellular organisms? |
| Answer» Nutrition in unicellular organism is either autotrophic ( like chemotrophic bacteria , methanogens etc. ) or heterotrophic ( like amoeba , paramecium etc. ) or myxotrophic ( like euglena etc. ). Talking about amoeba, it exhibits animal like i.e. holozoic nutrition. It engulfs food particle through pseudopodia (Ingestion) then as the food particle enters amoeba and becomes a vacoule, it is attacked by lyzozome\'s hydolytic enzymes(digestion). The through cytoplasmic streaming or cyclosis the food particle is eventually absorbed too. Now amoeba grows in size(assimilation). Then the food particle is egested out. | |
