How is the food transported in the phloem? please describe the whole process |
| Answer» Phloem transports products of photosynthesis, amino acids and other substances in plants. Translocation of food and other sustances take place in sieve tubes with the help of companion cells in both upward and downward direction. Sucrose is transferred to phloem tissue using energy from ATP. This influences the osmotic pressure of the tissues causing water to move into it and this pressure moves the material in the phloem to tissues which have less pressure. | |
