How is the process of polination different from the fertilization |
|
Answer» Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anthers (male structures) of a flower to the stigma (female structures) of the same or another flower. The pollen grains get deposited to the sticky tip of the pistil; known as stigma and travels down to the filament in the flower in order to reach the ovules. This transfer of pollen is generally mediated by abiotic or biotic means. Biotic means include insects and other animals while abiotic means include wind or water.Fertilization on the other hand, is the actual reproductive process where the sperm nuclei fuse with the ovary to form the zygote. In a simple way, a successful pollination leads to fertilization. Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains frm anther of stamen to stigma of carpel.......and fertilisation is the fusion of male and female gamete to form zygote |
