How reproduction takes place in flowers?? |
| Answer» A flower is compressed four main part ,i.e Sepals, Petals, Stamen and Carpel. Out of which stamens and carpels are the reproductive parts of a flower. • Sepals :- Are leaf-like structure present at the outermost circle. It provides the protection to the bird in the initial stage. All the sepals taken together are called calyx.• Petals :- are usually bright colours it protects the reproductive part which lies inside the flower its function is to attract insects for pollination all the petals taken together are called corolla. • Stamen :- It is the male reproductive part of the flowers. Single flower may have number of stamens in it.It comprises of two main parts:-(i) Anther :- It is the swollen tip of stamen Anther is a bilobed structure which contains two Pollen sac, which produce pollen grains that are yellowish in colour.(ii) filament :- It is the stack of stamen that supports Anther.• Carpel (pistil) :- It is the female reproductive part which is present in the centre of the flower.It comprises of three main parts :-(i) Stigma :- it is a terminal part of carpel which maybe sticky and help in receiving of pollen grains during pollination.(ii) Style :- it is the middle elongated part of carpel which help in the attachment of stigma to the ovary.(iii) Ovary :- it is the swollen bottom art of Carpel which contains ovule having an egg cell (female gamete).The male germ cell present in the pollen sac tends to fuse with the female germ cell. | |
