1.

In the given question, two equations numbered l and II are given. Solve both the equations and mark the appropriate answer.I. 3X2 – 42X + 135 = 0II. 2Y2 – 42Y + 220 = 01. X > Y2. X < Y3. X  ≥  Y4. X ≤  Y5. X = Y or the relationship between X and Y cannot be established.

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 2 : X < Y

Calculation:

I. 3X2 – 42X + 135 = 0

⇒ X2 – 14X + 45 = 0      ----(∵ divide by 3 )

⇒ X2 – 9X – 5X + 45 = 0

⇒ X(X – 9) – 5(X – 9) = 0

⇒ (X – 5) (X – 9) = 0

∴ The value of X is 5, 9.

II. 2Y2 – 42y + 220 = 0

⇒ Y2 – 11Y – 10Y + 110 = 0      ----(∵ taking 2 as common)

⇒ Y(Y – 11) – 10Y(Y – 11) = 0

⇒ (Y – 10) (Y – 11) = 0

∴ The value of Y is 10, 11.
