Answer» The pancreas is an organ located in the abdomen. It plays an essential role in converting the food we eat into fuel for the body\'s cells. The pancreas has two main functions: an exocrine function that helps in\xa0digestion\xa0and an\xa0endocrine\xa0function that regulates blood sugar.\xa0The\xa0pancreas\xa0produces enzymes to help break down proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Pancreas performs following two main functions in our body:-(i) Exocrine function: It works as an exocrine gland and helps in the digestion of food. It produces various enzymes such as amylase, lipase and trypsin which help to breakdown carbohydrate, fats and proteins respectively.(ii) Endocrine function: While working as an endocrine gland it secrets two major hormones, insulin and glucagon which regulate the level of sugar present in the blood. |
