Armateur- Rectangular coil ABCD insulated of copper wire. 2.Commutator- They r actually 2 split rings P&Q3. 2 brushes- Made up of carbon or metal X&Y4.Battery- Acts as source of energy5. Magnet- Armateur coil placed between 2 concave magnets•Principle of electric motor is to change electrical energy into mechanical energy. •When current flows into coil. From brush X&Y it flows to A to B then from C to D.This electric current produces magnetic field which is at right angle to plain of coil & also perpendicular to magnet. •The arm AB & CD experiences a force. According to Flemings left hand rule coil AB moves up & CD moves down; here couple force is produced which produces momentum. •Once the coil rotates 90 degree it becomes parallel to magnetic field thus no force act on it & it tend to stops but; due to momentum it covers another 90 degree. •Once the armateur completes 180 degree; the arms exchange their position; the current start flowing from Y in opposite direction DCBA. The device which convert electrical energy into mechanical energy is called as electric motor.The device which is converted from mechanical energy into electrical energy inthe form of alternating current is know as generator.
