Prove 3-√5 irrational no |
| Answer» Let assume 3-√5 is rational number. Therefore 3-√5=p/q after concelling the common factor from p and q . We get 3-√5=a/b where a and b are co prime no therefore 3-√5=a/b. √5=3-a/b. √5=3b-a/b because 3b-a/b is a rational number therefore √5 is also a rational number but we have proved that√5 is an irrational number therefore our assumtion contradiction is wrong therefore 3-√5 is irrational number. | |
