I heard that their was going to be another kind of internet coming out in many years. I heard it's called internet 2 or something. Was this just a project of some kind?You may be thinking about Web 2.0:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2Internet 2 already exist. It is a network (it's actually a backbone if you want to get technical) with a lot higher bandwidth than the publicly AVAILABLE internet. It CONNECTS various universities, governments and RESEARCH institutes together. It's main purpose is to move very large quantities of data between those connected to the network and to research technologies to increase bandwidth even further.
