I can't seem to be able to log on to any websites that require a password for access.  Not even hotmail. I enter the address and password, press enter, but get taken to a "page cannot be displayed" site.  This is the same for any sites that require any password. I have reset all my internet explorer security options, but the problem has not resolved itself.

Any ideas?

Thanks.Are you free from virus/spyware/adware? What are you using? Have you CHANGED any settings at all lately? Is the computetr otherwise normal? Normal, non-password sites pose no problem?I am using microsoft internet explorer on a laptop  with wireless.  I don't think I have spyware. I have't changed any SETTING on my computor recently, so I can't understand why it is suddenly won't allow me to access these sites. I can however access all other websites without any problem.

Thanks for your help.  Well, if you don't think you have spyware you may be surprised. I would suggest downloading, updating and running AdAware and Spybot (free if you google for them) and see what turns up. It couldn't hurt, and removes one of the variables.I have run Ad-Aware and Spybot on my computor, and have deleted all the files that they brought up. However I am still having the same problem.....any more suggestions? Thankyou.Give about 10 addresses that you cannot get to.

can you ping them?IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Check your java settings.I have pinged Hotmail.com: It sent 4 packets and received only 3 back, so a 25% loss. However, I don't really understand what that means as I have never pinged a website before.

I can not access websites LIKE hotmail.com, enter MSN messenger, log on to my ebay ACCOUNT or internet banking. No kind of website that INVOLVES anything slightly more complicated than just viewing it.

I have looked at all the java setting for internet explorer, and everything seems to be fine. They are basically set on Medium-Low.
