Solve : apostrophes as squares??

for whatever reason, apostrophes and I believe some other marks are appearing as squares. the PROBLEM seems to be just with webpages, and I can't understand why it is happening. I use internet explorer version 7.0, downloaded about a month ago, and up-to-date as FAR as i know. I'm running Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated.Welcome ABOARD
