Solve : Backup IE browser and email info??

Answer»

I'm getting ready to upgrade some hardware on my PC, including the HDD. I'm using Vista and I was wondering how I could backup my browser info and email info. Is there some special application that I need to download, or can it all be done from within Vista or IE? Thanks.Depends on what browser and email...
For Firefox users there is MozBack...backs up your entire Profile...in both FireFox and Thunderbird.

I don't use IE so i'm no HELP there but i do know there's a way to backup Favorites.

Same as above for Outlook and OE...i don't use them...Soybean or Dusty or another Outlook expert may be along shortly...
Email info? As in passwords, etc.? I think there may be a cookie backup-er...somewhere. Otherwise, you will need to manually type in your password and click the remember me button. Quote from: Helpmeh on February 03, 2010, 06:07:50 PM

True. In any case, one should have their email's password remembered, or at least recorded/written down. Yeah nevermind. Thanks for the input though guys.In windows mail you can select "EXPORT" in the file menu to export your CONTACTS and messages. Be sure to make a folder for them before exporting. If you just export to a volume you end up with a list of contact FILES that you then have to put into a folder.(hope that makes sense) Then you can import them back in the same way. IE has import and export that works the same way.
Vista has a backup UTILITY in Control Panel that creates a backup .bin file of just about everything but I have never tried to restore from it so I don't know if it's a all or none deal or exactly how it works.
