Solve : Best place to download games???

Answer»

Can someone tell me a GOOD place to download games please. I live in the UnitedKingdom and would like to purchase a game called il2 Cliffs Of Dover. The game is available for download on the 25th March, but I'm not sure the best place to get it. Any HELP would be welcome. Thanks!!I am finding it odd the nobody can SUGGEST a good place to download games from on this forum. Has nobody taken the step of downloading a game yet? I thought it would be nice to get some feedback before I download one since I wouldn't like to end up getting ripped of. I think you can download games from steam, but the last time I downloaded steam it BROUGHT my computer to crawl, so I don't fancy doing it that way.I think the problem is that there isn't a large gaming community here and you are asking about a game that is only popular within a certain niche.

Now, with that said...as far as I know, Cliffs of Dover will only be available through retail and Steam.  So, if you want to download it, you'll unfortunately have to use the Steam service.  I'm not a fan of Steam, so I feel your pain.  But for what it's worth, you might be able to download the game early when it releases in the US on March 22.I can't even think of another "download service" that works akin to steam. Are you saying your PC is steam powered? Quote from: Geek-9pm on March 14, 2011, 08:18:03 PM

No. Of course not. hardware isn't steam powered, software is.

And Watt's engine, but on a Computer help forum assuming a poster is referring to that would be foolish, wouldn't it. Quote from: BC_Programmer on March 14, 2011, 06:20:01 PM

Impulse and Games For Windows LIVE are both similar, although not nearly as robust.  Steam has definitely monopolized client-based online game distribution.  But then there are also sites like Direct2Drive, GamersGate, GameTap, Good Old Games, and many others that do the same thing but without a client.

Streaming cloud-based services like GAIKAI and OnLive might be worth mentioning, but they of course work differently.I have been searching for the best site to download all popular games. I have been downloading games before, search in google and download, but its not nice and it took time to download.Hi,
You can download games from many of sites available at internet. And the most popular site is www.cnet.com and you can find many of games through google.Cnet isn't exactly known as a source of games and the other site you mentioned is a known distributor of malware and other malicious software. (I'm not mentioning the name of the other site because I'm recommending to the moderators that the name be removed to no one goes there.)
