Answer» not sure what the problem could be. can use messenger and send e-mails but when I try to access the internet I get the page that says it can't connect.
Any ideas of what the problem may be? I called my internet provider but since it wasn't a problem with them thier response was basically take it to the shop...i am a college student so extra cash is hard to find.
Any tips, ideas or suggestions WOULD be appreciated!Since your internet connection is working (email, messenger), first thing to try would be to use another browser, just to see if any web page will open from there. What browser are you using now? What WINDOWS version?i believe it it is the most recent version if IE...IE7. not sure how to get another browser downloaded as I can't connect to the internet...any suggestions?
If it's IE7 (to check, open IE, click Help>About). GO Tools>Internet Options>Advanced TAB, and click on "Reset" button.I'm having this problem, too. I updated to IE7 about a week ago, when IE7 downloaded updates, I was no longer able to view window pages, but could use both AIM and MySpace IM.
My computer shows a clear SIGNAL to my wireless router. I've even tried a hard wire straight to the modem. Still the same result. I think it was a problem with one of the IE7 updates.
Something has messed with the programming inabling us to view internet pages. I've tried loading another browser (firefox) and still the same result. I've reset my browser settings. I've turned off my firewall protection. I've had my company IT guy give me all the basics.
This is clearly in the computer, not a connection or server problem.
Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 running IE7 wireless and or ethernet DSL connection
Any help would be greatly appreciated...Since, you are not able to use neither browser, it looks like your CONNECTION settings got messed up. You can try System Restore, byt before you do this, try to run TCP Optimizer: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.phpQuote from: Broni on October 15, 2007, 12:39:55 PM Since, you are not able to use neither browser, it looks like your CONNECTION settings got messed up. Of course by "connection problem" I was refering to the router and the modem. This has been everyone's first guess when I explain my problem.
The connection problem you refer to is, as I mentioned earlier, a programming problem in the computer.
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out after work this evening. I hope this helps. I'm going into withdrawl....
Quote from: SuperDave on October 15, 2007, 01:10:44 PMIs this XP or Vista that you're using? Do have the service pack installed? Do you have the latest updates? What do you mean by "won't let me retrieve"?
I can't perform a System Restore. I've been told that to many downloads have been performed and won't allow me.
