Answer» Hello! Can't figure this one out..thought I'd give the forum a try..it's been very helpful in the past...
Dell Pro Venue 8 tablet. Have had SINCE Dec of 2013. Hardly any issues. Running windows 8.1, Malware Anti-Malware Bytes and Avast (all free versions).
Lately, occasionally I've been unable to connect to our secure home Verizon DSL (while EVERYONE else in the house has no problem CONNECTING). For some reason, I have to keep going in to Device Manager and disabling and re-enabling the Network Adapter.
Issue #2 (and most frustrating) - occasionally I'll bring up a website and right away it will switch to an old format..kind of similar to an ancient mobile version of the website. If it's a site with videos, the videos won't play.. the websites that I've encountered issues with are: CNN, Allrecipes, YouTube, Pandora, and Amazon.
Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks!
JenniferHi jentaylor728, Regarding issue 1, Im thinking that your tablet may have a problem with the Wi-Fi ( as in motherboard component). Have you tried to connect to a friends Wi-Fi at all? What is the result there? Do you have to disable & re-enable it to get a connection? Local businesses, schools, universities, McDonalds etc sometimes have free ACCESS points. Have you tried your tablet in these locations?
for issue 2, have you tried to uninstall the browser, (LETS presume it is Firefox) reboot the computer, then open an alternative browser like IE to download a new version of the browser you are using. Does your problem still exist after this? What happens when you use an alternative browser, lets say Chrome?
Another alternative is purchase a Wi-Fi USB, They are very cheap. Disable the tablet wi-fi, plug in the usb & see if the problem persists.
Hope some of this can help you. ImnoGuru.
