Answer» A few days ago all three BROWSERS on my deskktop computer lost the ability to access Google web search or Google image search. Otherwise, they operate normally. I can access Google.com, and when I'm there can open G news, G video, G maps etc etc -- but when I try for web or image search the page freezes.
I have done most of the things that Google recommends when access is difficult -- cleared caches, cleared DNS, checked host folder, installed and ran spypot, to no effect. The only success was when I opened Windows in safe molde, and found all three browsers worked as they should. But I don't know how to PUT that information to work.
The computer is a Vaio desktop, RX755, running XP Home with service pack two. x86 CPU, 1024 MB memory. The browsers are Moz Firefox 2004, my FAVE; Opera 9.2 as backup, and IE7 that came with Windows and I don't know how to get rid of.
With all three browsers failing in the same WAY at the same time I suspect that some service that they all depend on has failed. I updated Java, but that wasn't it.
Any ideas will be gratefully studied.Download HijackThis: http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download Click on Download HijackThis Installer Post HijackTHis LOG.
