Solve : bug on almost every page I visit?

Answer»

I have a BUG that shows up on many pages that I view. It looks like an image with a bad link. More details on what it looks like are in this screenshot: http://www.geocities.com/mschardt2003/bug.JPG. (the red circles around the box.)
When I right CLICK on the square and click properties the window shows this: http://www.geocities.com/mschardt2003/properties.jpg. Another thing I found out about this code is that it adds itself to a page. I know this because I viewed the source code of my website and found the address for it. I deleted it and saved the page. I then refreshed the site in the browser. It was still there. It's becoming really anoying because it messes up the layout of the page and makes it look all ugly, especially since it's effecting both of my own webpages. I've tried searching on the internet for this bug, but couldn't find anything. Any help would be great. My specs are Windows XP with IE 6.
Michael......Does this occur on all pages? When did all this start? Does this happen on all images or just some?
Had you downloaded anything just prior to this happening ?
Have you checked to be sure you haven't lost your Sun systems java. Could it be an active X issue .... If you suspect its a pest.....what do you USE to scan for those .

dl65 It doesn't occur on every page, but it does occure on many of them. I recently noticed that it occcurs  on bith my desktop and notebook computer. It started about a month ago or so. It is only that image, but I get that same image on several different page including my own.Scan for spyware.

Have you reset your Internet settings to default yet to see if that has any effect?

Michael......Do you share any files with both your laptop and desktop....? Is it possible to post a link to any of   the pages that you cannot view properly.....? The fact that you have this issue on two pcs suggests that you MAY have some pest which is causing the problem....Do you ever have them networked or connected to the net via a router or hub ?

dl65  My spyware software is Spy Sweeper. My laptop is connected through a Linksys router. I don't share anyfiles between the two computers. The links that I've noticed the bug on where as follows:

http://www.altavista.com
http://www.lycos.com
http://www.geocities.com/mschardt2003 My site.
http://www.geocities.com/mschardt2003/knightrider/frames.html. My 2nd site.

I'll post more sites as I discover the bug on them. What if you use a browser such as Mozilla Firefox?I installed firefox, but the bug still showed up on the same sites.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q283807 Michael....Strange ....I just tried the links you posted....3 of them WORK fine .......the lycos site doesnt ......Perhaps its down for some reason .......I checked it on another pc with the same result.

let us know if you find a solution to your issue.
