Answer» Hi! I've been USING IE for many years and have come across a problem I can't seem to fix. I just got a new computer and when I use IE, I can't open a new window. All that happens is my open window refreshes. I have looked all over the settings and options and can't see anything obvious. I've tried turning on/off the pop-up blocker and that doesn't change anything.
Thanks for any help!If you right click a link and select "Open in new window" from the context menu, what happens? Disabling popup blockers and extra toolbars often isn't enough - They need to be uninstalled.Oddly enough, that option doesn't appear when I right click on the link.I'm sorry, I misunderstood.... When I right-click and "Open in new window" it opens the new link in a new window, but appears to close the previous window. What toolbars and popup blockers are installed? What firewall do you use?Toolbars -standard buttons, address bar, links. No pop-up blockers. Zone Alarm-firewall.No Google, AIM or Yahoo etc toolbars installed?Google installed, but not activeFirst of all, uninstall the Google toolbar, rest IE to it's defaults and retry. If that doesn't work, try IEFix.That was it! I DISABLED the Google toolbar helper and viola! Thanks so much for your help! These toolbars CAUSE FAR more problems than they're worth.
