I just installed it, and upon attempting to configure it, I get this message: "DXT TEXTURE COMPRESSION REQUIRED"...

I have no idea what this means! :-?

My system is windows XP
Computer bought new in 2002
My graphics card= nvidia tnt2 m64 graphics card (is this card the problem?)

JohnI'm LOOKING on Google at some of the bizarre solutions people were able to implement... this truly is, from a technical standpoint, a strange game.

*One person said that a reboot fixed it.

*Another found something called "Support DXT texture format" in "D3D Tweaks section". I don't know what those are, but they sound like a good lead.

*Another person disabled full-screen and it worked fine.

Finally, I searched for info on your graphics card. Allow me to say that if nVidia says it's the "first chipset" to do something, it's probably old. Since I can't find any specs on it: How long ago did you get this graphics card?That card is a good few years old - you can find it here
It was before the GeForce series.The graphics card came with my computer in 2002.
Do you know if the DXT texture compression...is just a free DOWNLOAD or something?

I sure am confused, but I have faith in this forum...I really do!

JohnThis is a fairly new game, right?
You may be better to just buy a new card, as even if the game would run you'd probably get very low frame rates from your current card and the game wouldn't be enjoyable.
Try the things Dilbert suggested and see if they fix your problem.
If not, consider a new graphics card.

I don't think it would be something you can download.  I think it's a FEATURE of the card, and if your card doesn't support it then you can't make it support it.
I'm not really sure though.

We're all confused . . . lol.  You're right to have faith in this forum, we have some really knowledgeable people here.I have been checking my system out. You can see from my previous post what kind of graphics card I have.

However, the game says I need DX9.0C.......
Well, my computer says I already have that! I am confused again.

My graphics card is:nvidia tnt2 m64 graphics card.
But I thought DX9.0C  WAS  a graphics card, & yet my system says I have it.

CONFUSED :-?

JohnDirectX is not a graphics card. In simple terms you can think of it as an instructions book for your computer on how to draw graphics. You can install any DirectX version on your computer, but graphics cards, which are hardware, are only able to understand the instructions that were available at the time. For example according to Wikipedia the TNT2 was a DirectX 5 or 6 card. That means, although you can install the DirectX 9 "instructions book" on your computer, your graphics card will only be able to understand and use the older PARTS of DirectX and not the new instructions. That could be the case here. If it is true, your only option is to buy a DirectX 9 compatable graphics card.
