Solve : Can't watch videos online...? |
Answer» Every time I try to watch a video on the internet(via youtube or whatever else) the page stops responding and the internet completely stops WORKING and the computer has to be restarted before it will work again. I have tried using both Internet Explorer and Firefox and it does the same with both. I have AVG Anti-Virus and when I run the scanner it doesn't come up with any viruses. Does anyone know what the PROBLEM is?What version of Windows are you using? Every time I try to watch a video on the internet(via youtube or whatever else) the page stops responding and the internet completely stops working and the computer has to be restarted before it will work again. I have tried using both Internet Explorer and Firefox and it does the same with both. I have AVG Anti-Virus and when I run the scanner it doesn't come up with any viruses. Does anyone know what the problem is?backup your bookmarks, uninstall Firefox and delete the hidden Profiles folder, reboot and reinstall Firefox. C:\Documents and Settings \ [User Name] \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles\ Tony I have windows XP and it started a week or two ago...i'm not sure exactly when because i share the computer with my younger sister and she is the one who first noticed the problem. and what is the hidden Profiles folder?Tony how will this solve the issue ? ? It is happening in both BROWSERS which would suggest it's not a browser issue...I thought there might have been damaged files upon install , so i assumed installing firefox again might of done the trick ..... ops Tony If your using Internet Explorer, the option of watching videos might be disabled. Try going to Tools>Internet Options>Advance> Scroll Down to Mutimedia and check the "Play Animation in webpages" if that does work then try the "Restore Advance Settings" in the Advance Tab.What type of Internet connection is this ? ?I've been using Firefox and I believe its a DSL connection. I downloaded Firefox because when i was using internet explorer the internet would STOP working whenever i tried to close a webpage.Have you tried unplugging the router/modem for 30 seconds and re-booted the machine when this happens ? ? If it is DSL you need to have DSL filters on every phone jack in the dwelling. We have one other desktop and a laptop in the house and they both work fine so i'm not sure that would do very much...i'm not exactly sure that the internet is DSL...all I know is that we got it from Verizon, I asked my mom but she said that she doesn't know either(she should since she's the one who BOUGHT it!) We use wireless network adapters for the desktops and when the internet stops working i tried to disconnect and then reconnect the internet connection but it always tells me that there was an error...I think it has something to do with a "cache" something or other...I would try it right now but then I would lose the internet connection and have to restart the computer and I don't have the patience for that right now... |
