Solve : Cannot access Yahoo mail with Firefox - "connection interrupted"?

Answer»

I used the CCleaner to remove unwanted cookies. My understanding is that if I accidentally removed a cookie that was useful, a new one would be loaded next time I visited that particular site, right?

After I used the CCleaner, for some reason I could not get into my Yahoo email account. I don't know if there's a cause & effect there or not. I use Mozilla Firefox 5.0 on a PC. I have McAfee Desktop Firewall 8.5
I can get onto the yahoo webiste, but when I tried to log onto my email account I get the following error message:

Connection interrupted
The connection tot he server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

It kept doing this so I uninstalled Yahoo from my add/remove programs. I went on the Yahoo home page, which I could access, but when I try to sign up for email again, I get the same connection interruption message. What now?I used the CCleaner to remove unwanted cookies. My understanding is that if I accidentally removed a cookie that was useful, a new one would be loaded next time I visited that particular site, right? Yes.

I use Mozilla Firefox 5.0 on a PC. There is no 5.0, only 3.5.2 so far.

Have you tried turning off the firewall and trying to access your email?

Alan <>< YUP, that's what it was I feel like a dope. No reason to...that's how we all learn. If your firewall was blocking it, you need to configure your firewall so that it's won't BLOCK. Do not live on the Internet without firewall protection. If you can't get McAfee to work for you, try another firewall. The weird thing is I've never had a problem until just now. Why would I be allowed onto the Yahoo homepage but not onto the mail logon screen?

Are you familiar with McAfee firewalls? I have McAfee DEsktop Firewall 8.5

I'm not sure how to include that particular page to be allowed on the firewall.
I'm not familiar with McAfee firewalls. You might try http://community.mcafee.com/

I have a Yahoo Mail account and can access it with Firefox. I'm using Windows firewall; I'm also behind a router, which provides additional firewall protection. If you're not using a router, I suggest you enable Windows firewall during any time that you disable McAfee's firewall. Don't use both at the same time, but at least have one running so that you have firewall protection.I found a blocked web page with someone's help. All is WELL. Thanks for your help. Thanks for posting back. Glad to hear problem solved. Ditto Soybean
