Solve : cannot set hope page address? |
|
Answer» something has happened to my WIN XP that prevents SETTING the home page address via Control Panel, Internet Options, Internet Properties, Home page address. I can enter the address once (http://start.earthlink.net) and when IE as activated I get my earthlink start page. But the NEXT time I access IE, I will get "about:blank" as the opening page. Inspection of Control Panel shows that "about:blank" has replaced start.earthlink. "about:blank" has other malcious BEHAVIOR as when it opens it immediately initiates downloading unasked for crap. I have scanned my computer via McAfee Virsus Scan v4.5.1 and it turned up nothing. But obviously, something is wron.download shredder>>>http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html and this may help to prevent it happening again>>http://www.wilderssecurity.net/bhblaster.html or use firefox.awstokes.....Hummmmmm, sounds like you have a browser hijacker.......CWShredder will identify and reset your home page .....but if the hijacker is still lurking you should probably D/L and install hijackthis..... |
