Answer» Hi guys, I'm running firefox 3.0.10 and internet explorer 8 on windows vista and have come across a weird little problem. i cant access google pages(i.e google.com), every other page loads fine but when i try to access google i only get a NETWORK timeout error. Ive tried clearing all cache and cookies and so on but STILL no go. this is in both IE8 and firefox. Ive run antivirus and anti spyware scans and found nothing. Ive tried deleting the HOSTS file but that didn't work either. and i disabled the firewall just in case but still nothing.. this ONE has me stumped.. please help if u can thanks guys
[attachment deleted by admin]well the first THING that comes in mind is hosts file:
go to start > (vista search) notepad.exe c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
try to copy anything that is not after # aka: 127.0.0.1 localhosti tried that still no go..Can you access: http://74.125.53.99/yes i can. first time ive seen google in days..loli still dont understand why i cant access google.com tho Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in: cmd Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).
In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one: ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
Restart computer. tried that. all commands accepted and seemed to work but after restart still no google try booting into a safemode with networking, and see if it will let youtried in safe mode. still same problem... Try to bypass router, and connect computer straight to the modem.I would try and get spybot an see if it sees anything. I know I had trouble getting on to any page till I ran that and caught some things.
