Solve : checking deleted emails??

Answer»

I have some COMPUTER experience but my SON is smarter than me...we both have yahoo email accounts. My son deletes all his email and sent mail, then clears private data on our Linux Ubuntu system (LIKE a good kid should). My question: is there a way for me to "re-instate" his deleted emails? (like a good father should checking on the safety of my son" I know his user name/pw. I am system administrator. And i am not afraid to install any programs for Linux but i would prefer he not know that I am "spying" on him. Any help would be appreciated...p.s. if it helps I am using mozilla firefox...I'm afraid, if he deleted his inbox and private data, the emails are irretrievable.
...Unless someone on the forums knows something I don't...Ditto. How old is your son, anyway?Quote

Seeing this is a security issue that may cross some boundaries i have reservations on giving this TYPE of advice.

Sorry.

I'm tempted to close this but we'll wait and see.my son is 16...i am 35...if there seems to be security issues...then could one guide me to information that i could read up on this myself? There are a million people on the internet willing to give free advice, including "hackers"... If I wanted to jeopardize something I could have hit a hack site first... I wanted to see if a site with validity could offer some suggestions first...If moderators don't want to post fearing misuse...then please email me directly - ****

I want to view my son's email being concerned about illegal graduation parties and references to drug use. I know my child is 100% clean of drugs but I would like to watch out for the ones that are not!

Email address removed due to security reasonsI'm definitely against spying on 16 YEARS old children. They deserve their privacy, and they should be talked to, not spied on.
