Solve : Chromodo ... Installed Comodo AV to a system and noticed this alt browser? |
|
Answer» So I installed Comodo AV to a system because AVG is only available through installing a cnet downloader service etc and I dont want to have to install a downloader to download what should be a direct download. Is this Chromodo any good or is it just Google Chrome with heightened security settings? To me it looks like Comodo slapped their name on Chrome. https://help.comodo.com/topic-249-1-593-6704-Chromodo-Browser---Introduction.html "Chromodo Browser is a fast and versatile Internet Browser based on Chromium technology and infused with Comodo's unparalleled level of security." (Chromium is an open source browser family on which the commercial, CLOSED source Google Chrome is based) Quote from: DaveLembke on April 05, 2015, 12:40:16 PM AVG is only available through installing a cnet downloader service etc and I dont want to have to install a downloader to download what should be a direct download. Direct link (Googled "AVG free not Cnet", took me to Techspot, http://www.techspot.com/downloads/43-avg-anti-virus-free-edition.html ) http://files-download.avg.com/inst/av/avg_free_x86_all_2015_ltst_222.exe That exe seems to be a standalone installer. To avoid bloatware, do the usual THINGS, i.e. choose "Basic protection" and "Custom install". Thanks Salmon for your help with getting AVG without the cnet mess Also saved the link to bookmarks in case I NEED to get another copy later on. |
