Answer» OK, so I thought about trying out the brand ACER. Does anybody know anything about the ACER brand and if so does anybody have any sugestions about a good cpu from ACER. ALSO whats some of your ideas on which is a better brand.Acer's a pretty good brand YA, Im looking to replace my old desktop but I'm considering getting a laptop. Are labtops better than desktops. I saved about $500 on a PC by building it and not buying my software*. PM me if you want a tutorial on how to do this. When I say "Not buying my software" I mean GPL/GNU software: Linux.Stay away from Acer laptops. I see a LOT of them with problems. If you want the better ones, I suggest Toshiba, Sony, or IBM/Lenovo. They are made bya FEW manufacturers and then branded with whatever company is actually selling them. Sony, Toshiba, etc. do not exclusively make their own, so brand loyalty is a myth.
