Solve : Computer crashes about 15 mins into gameplay?

Answer»

This started happening about 5 days ago. Any GAME I play, after about 15 minutes, my computer crashes, and i am unable to turn it back on for about 2 minutes. I'm assuming it's a heating problem? I use Windows XP SP2 and installed a new ATI radeon 9600 PRO and 512 MB of ram about 2 months ago. Please, and THANK you for the help. - khmersoulzIt most likely is, what are you using to keep your computer cool? There is probably a shutdown temperature enabled in your BIOS.I'm just using the fans that came with it (CPU fan, Video Card Fan, and 1 Case Fan in the back).Good at least there is some sort of coolant in your system. Anyway have you checked your BIOS for the automatic shutdown temperature setting.I'll try that right now.One more thing, all the fans are spinning in a NORMAL fashion right? You may NEED to clean out dust clumps from the fans and on the motherboard. And what kind of PSU do you have and list the specs please.Well, I checked the BIOS and my shutdown temperature was disabled. I have taken a look at the fan in the past, the CPU fan is LIVING in dust. I think I should clean that out right about now? and yes they are all spinning normally. This may also be a Power supply problem could you tell us what kind of PSU you have and the specs. The PSU I am using I pulled out from a case I recently purchased and had no idea how to connect all the plugs. The information I got was

# 450-watt power
# 115v-230v manual switch

# Power Supply Input:
# 115-230V 50/60Hz,10A/6A

# Power Supply Output:
# +3.3V/26A
# +5V/35A
# +12V/15A
# -5V/0.5A
# -12V/0.8A
# +5Vsb/2ACan you tell us the BRAND of the PSU, that often determines the quality and assurance that it is a good PSU.I dont think  there is a brand (The case I purchased was from eBay), the main thing it says is ATX SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY.Are you sure you are unable to turn it back on for about 2min?Well, I said it wrong, once it crashes, when I try to turn it on, it either turns on to the first screen then shuts off, or gets to the second screen then shuts off. Then I would have to wait at least 2 minutes, then I can turn it on again successfully.I do think it may be a power supply issue. It is a 24 pin power supply right? You do have the Auxillary power plugged in right?Yeah, 25 Pin and plugged in.
