Solve : connecting tv to internet? |
|
Answer» I have a vizio tv and the manual is somewhat confusing, for me, when instructing on how to connect to the internet. It says you will use the HDMI for this task but when I did this nothing worked. I found an instruction video and it said to use Ethernet cab6 and attach to tv and router. I am wondering if I can use the wireless router I have for this? or do I need to purchase another router for wired connection? I do not want to go wireless.Presently TV sets do not connect directly to the Intranet. But that is changeling. Soon TV sets will come with built-in connections. But not yet. Presently TV sets do not connect directly to the Intranet. Yes they do. They are CALLED "smart TVs". My Samsung which I bought in late 2012 is one. They were around before that. 12 million U.S. households have their Web-capable TVs connected to the Internet, although In-Stat estimates about 25 million U.S. TV households own a set with built-in network capability. They ALSO predict that 100 million homes in North America and western Europe will own television sets that blend traditional programs with Internet content by 2016. You can connect the TV to a network connection such as a router using a cat5 (ethernet) cable. You would not use an HDMI cable for this. I have several Vizio smart TVs and they have the capability of connecting to my router via either an ethernet cable or wifi. Most wireless routers also have cable connections as well so you should be able to use your current router as long as there is an empty connector available to PLUG the cable in.Thank you to all that replied to my post. I would hook up the modem to router and then take Ethernet cat5/6 from router to the computer and tv. I do have a wireless router and would love it if I can just use that but I am worried that others will be able to invade my privacy, and my lack of KNOWLEDGE about computers makes me truly worried about that and I also worry that my signal will not be as GOOD, will these things be a problem if I am using the wireless as a wired? Again thank you for your help. Redsky |
