Solve : cs problems and more..?

Answer»

alright, well i just built my new pc and have had zero problems until today. i just find it ironic that it all had to happen in one day....

every time i play counter strike SOURCE, i get this hl2.exe has stopped working error. now, i dont see this BOX until i close my game, and my game functions normally. but i just wanna know how to get rid of it. i tried that thing of typing that command in cmd but it didnt work. i also tried RUNNING it as admin and other various things of that nature... but it has not worked.

my other problem is that i have severe lag spikes while i play games. the wierd thing is, it didnt start happening until i got this hl2.exe error. i thought it was just cs, but i played cod 4 and i was lag spiking in that game too. theres nothing wrong with my isp, i was able to play cs on my much older pc with no lag at all, and when im out of game, it works fine.

here are my specs:
intel c2d e6750
2gb ram
evga 8800gt
windows vista home prem
320gb hd

i am on a wireless network using the little usb box thing from linksys and i use sbc global yahoo. i believe the model of my linksys adapter is wusb54gs or somethin.

plz help!is your wireless network secure?Everywhere i go the same method.

thats what i SAID i tried but didnt work. i actually tried that atleast 3 times.

and no, my network is not secure... i just set it up the other day, but i was gonna get around to it.

EDIT: i just secured my network and it didnt resolve my spikes. do the lag spikes only occur when you are playing over the internet? do they occur when you play CoD4 single player? we have to be certain we are zeroing in on the right thing.Quote from: homer on December 01, 2007, 12:53:30 PM

they only occor online. can you hookup directly to the internet, without using the router or the wireless adapter? if you can, see if the lag spikes occur when you are directly connected to the internet.Quote from: homer on December 01, 2007, 08:03:07 PM

i have resolved my lag spike problem. i CONTACTED linksys and i had to change my mtu size to 1400. however, i still have the hl2.exe error. and i was wondering why i had to change my mtu to 1400?
