Solve : darn ActiveX?

Answer»

I am unable to download ActiveX in order to INSTALL McAfee. I have Win98 SE. Ive tried Spysweeper and Ad-Adware SE. All was well until 4 days ago (haven't downloaded any new programs). I already had McAfee, it could no longer update or open the security center. I UNINSTALLED McAfee and cannot reinstall. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computers so any help will be greatly appreciated. Is the Ad Aware updated? How about getting Spybot to install and run?

I would run the uninstall and then re-install McAfee after a reboot. (Or leave it off and just use AVG Free which you can google for)

ACTIVE X is a risk anyway, and one that you don't have to take. I sure wouldn't just for McAfee.

I think you have some sort of critter in your machine.thank you for the reply.....everything is up to date. Without activex I'm unable to receive certain pictures and view my homepage completely (Comcast). I'll just KEEP plugging along. :-/First....
