Answer» Please HELP, my dialup will not connect normally. It comes up with a message that is headed...OPERATOR ASSISTED OR MANUAL DIALUP,
and has the text " Pick up the handset and dial the(or ask the operator to dial) then press OK immediately after dialling then replace the handset."
If the instructions are followed then the PC dials up and connects. I can still dial out normally to my mobile phone or other phone but I just cannot connect to the INTERNET. Is ther a simple fix? I'll even settle for a complicated fixWho is your internet service provider? AOL?
[glb]Flame[/glb]andyh55......I've never run into that problem...but I would delete the dialup account you using now and create a new one .......( using the same ISP that you have now ) ......If that ...didnt work , I would remove and reinstall your MODEM........As a last resort ....I would phone your ISP and PERHAPS they can shed some light on your issue .......Is this something that has just started ? Did you D/L any updates which coincide with your problem appearing ?

dl65 These directions are for win9x. I assume they work for other versions.
Change it in the dialing properties for the connection. Open My Computer Double click Dialup Networking Right click your connection and select properties Click the connection tab Click configure button Click options tab Uncheck operator assisted or manual connection.
