Solve : Does Firefox 4 run slow on XP Pro for you also??

Answer»

I tried it a few DAYS ago, and my cpu was running 100% with 3 tabs open. I was watching a YouTube video in the process. The video was sluggish. I downloaded Opera, and didn't have a problem. I went back to Firefox 3.6., but had the same problem! I really like FF, but it's annoying to deal with at times. Opera and Chrome's extentions aren't that freat to me. Especially when it comes to blocking ads. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

2.67GHz. 248 MB of RAMYou may want to check other running processes...not just FireFox...DLoad and install Process Explorer.248MB of RAM is rather small for Windows XP. And, what about your video specs? Are you using onboard video or an add-on card? I suspect you're using onboard and it is allocated only 8MB system RAM; that would explain the difference between a normal 256MB amount of RAM and the 248MB you mentioned; in other words, Win XP is subtracting the "shared" 8MB from 256MB and reporting 248MB when you view System Properties by right CLICKING on Computer and selecting Properties. That explains the sluggish and freezing behavior. Thanks to everyone that replied.
