Solve : Downloading Issues?

Answer»

I currently run IE7 on a windows Xp, with 512 mb ram, 1.39 ghz celeron, although this same problem has occured for me on my laptop, which runs XP, IE7 on 768 mb ram with a 2.3 AMD. This problem also occurs for me when using firefox. When I try to download multiple files, more SPECIFICALLY, more than two files, the computer freezes and won't allow another download until one of the other two are finished. This slows me down quite a bit. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this, but that pretty much MEANS I have simply gone to the help files and changed my security SETTINGS. To no avail. It doesn't seem to matter where I download from i.e. Download.com, microsoft, school NETWORK or any number of other sites, they all stop adding SL files after two. I know in the past I have downloaded many more than two at once, and though it slows down, I can turn it on when I go to bed and wake up to a dozen or more new programs. I run roadrunner @ 5mbps for my modem. I have had this problem when using my schools wireless as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. That will happen with IE, there is a connection limit.
You can "patch" the file to allow more connections, but it can be risky.
The easiest solution is to get Firefox - faster, more secure, and can do more things, including download more than 2 files at once.
Hope this helps. Not to be rude calum but the OP also said Quote

Sorry, I should learn to read:-[
Do you know what happened before this started? As far as I know nothing about my system changed. Remembering further it was occurring even before I upgraded to IE 7, i.e. when I had IE 6. The only physical changes made to the computer since I got it would be an upgrade in RAM, storage and graphics card. I have had to reload Windows a couple of times after the system went down, but this was only on my desktop, my laptop - which suffers the same downloading issue as in the original post - has only gotten a RAM upgrade. Again, thank you for your help.
