Solve : DSL suddenly vanished? |
|
Answer» I have no way to log onto internet now, no way for DSL to access internet. It was there last night, but is not there any longer. Is this something I can re-add to enable internet access, or ....what to do? I am a beginner, but would not want to put the machine in the shop if not needed. Help!!! first message..... got "did not match any items".I need to see EXACT message. Quote Copy all text in Notepad ([Ctrl-A], then [Ctrl-C]), and then post it (paste = [Ctrl-V]) in your next reply. Quote second note.....there was no answerQuote Copy and paste what you see in Notepad into a Reply here.Thank you for your responses Broni. But I do not have any expertise to do that on one computer and copy it onto a disk and then take it this computer to send it to you. I am "lost". But thank you for responding.I was hoping I could just add a new DSL connection/connector I guess. Since it says I no longer have one.We don't really know, what the problem is, yet? Do you have USB flash DRIVE (can borrow)? Most LIKELY, you'll need one, not only to transfer those text files to working computer, but, eventually, to transfer some repair tools from working computer to bad computer. There is a drive (USB) but I do not have the thing to put in. I have CD/DVD on each machine and so could copy from one machine onto a disk and then load that onto the other machine. I think. I tried my provider and they charged me $75 to sign up for "help" service, but did not help. They want to send out a tech for $154 additional but still will not guarantee to fix it! If you have CDRW disk (not CDR), that will work. Otherwise, I'd invest 10-15 bucks to buy USB flash drive. Believe me, it'll come handy on many occasions. It is CD-RW. Both machines. DVD/R/W/RAMI'm not talking about drives themselves. I'm talking about about disks, you put into them. CDs come in two flavors: CDR (you can write to them once) and CDRW (re-writable). I don't want you to WASTE your money, by using CDR disks, because once you write something to them, you can't write again anymore. Bottom line, USB flash drive would be the best solution.I have 15-20 DVD-R disks. I have no problems using them.Well, if so, follow instruction from my reply #1, transfer logs to a CD, move the CD to good computer and post logs back. Make sure, you type those commands EXACTLY as they're (including spaces), or it won't work (CD wasted). I think we're missing some relevant details here. Please elaborate on your computing environment as it relates to Internet access.
